Considering how tiring hiking the various falls can be and considering the huge crowds at the Multnomah Falls parking lot, this restaurant could be a tourist trap and still make money. However, it has friendly service, a quaint atmosphere, and tasty if slightly pricey food. I tried the pulled pork sandwich, but my friend tried the salmon burger. Getting salmon or other Pacific Northwest fare is probably the wisest.

...yet it's never quite gotten to the Wow level. The ambience and the appetite from a hike always makes a visit like a matinee respite, taken in hopes that there isn't a better show in town for your time (there isn't). The Lodge is beautiful, the service reasonably nice (if not convincingly authentic), and the desserts earn good credits. But those lunch sandwiches I'll skip next time in favor of an entree in hopes of finding that elusive meal that can match the spectacular locale.

We went a few weeks ago using a groupon and discovered they have a brunch every Sunday with special stuff on Mother's day. It was crowded as it has been every time we have been there- mainly from people visiting the falls and the interpretive center and gift shop. The brunch was also busy. They had the buffet along the hallway to the bathroom. It was cramped and difficult to go through the line and get to the restrooms. Not to mention standing in line, literally hovering over the tables by the line. I would have thought it would be easier to use the little room off the waiting area- set up around the edge of the walls it would have been a much easier area to maneuver. That said- it was delicious! The staff was cheerful and friendly and worked hard to make sure drinks were filled, requests taken care of and the food often replenished with fresh hot trays. I would absolutely recommend it and plan to go back at some point just to try the regular Sunday brunch :) Note- if you are disabled- there are not many disabled parking paces- there are not many spaces near the area at all- the large parking section is across the freeway- accessible via a path that goes under it. The only way to drive near the restaurant is to use the old highway- which involves either taking it the whole way out there or going 15m past it and coming back on the old highway. If you miss a turnoff on the CRG highway you are in for a LONG detour! Still worth it :) We sat in the area we thought would be better served as the buffet section. Nice views of the river and mountains. If you want a small (and only) view of the falls ask for the windowed area on the South side. There is also a nice middle section that feels like the old school fancy place :)
