“Any view of the ocean is worth at least a "four"”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2013

In our visit to Brookings we stopped by this day use only small park just south of the river on Oceanside Drive. It has a small parking area and is free. There is a trail to the beach along the bluff One large rock is the feature point, but there is a nice area for dogs to roam and run. No one there to enjoy it but us. I suspect the local use it but most people head for Harris Park or one of the larger more diverse beaches. neat little place and worth a look-see.

“Dog Park, Rocky Beach, Seals”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2013

Trails down to the ocean lead to great places for strenuous beach walks--the beach is pebbly and not for lazy strolling, but it's beautiful, with a variety of views, some impressive driftwood collections, and at least two sets of offshore rocks where harbor seals regularly sun themselves, During really low (minus) tides, you can walk north all the way to to Sporthaven Beach; almost any low tide lets you walk south all the way to the Winchuck River. Even during high tide you can walk 3/4 mile south. Good tidepooling in both directions from the trail access, too.

The dog park is large and grassy, a great place for canine runs.

“A small park with a big rock :-)”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2011

Named for the huge rock nearby, this small day-use park has a great lawn area for children to run and play. It's tucked away off Hwy 101, so most visitors don't know it's here.

Access to the beach is along a trail down the side of the bluff, although we did not go down to the beach when we stopped by. There are nice ocean views from the park.

The beach here is pretty and there were a number of people walking along it. The park is free and there is adequate parking in the gravel lot. It's located on Oceanview drive, south of the river.
