“Nice tree if you are driving by with 5 minutes to spare”
Reviewed 9 July 2013

It is a pretty tree. It is nice that it grew so big. Normally big trees require going out of your way so this has that advantage. Hard to say more since it isn't that large compared to nearby redwoods. Nice diversion for a couple of minutes.

“Another Big Tree on the west coast”
Reviewed 25 May 2013

After visiting Yosemite and driving up 101 seeing park after park of giant redwood trees I was not excited about seeing another Big Tree, but the Cypress is a beautiful tree and it is the largest in Oregon, so why not? It is easy to get to from 101 and worth a quick stop, but not more. It seems a lot of communities try to promote tourism by attracting us to a "named tree" or a "largest tree" or a tree with a "special history"; in this case size and story. Don't go out of your way to see it, but if you are going north or south on 101 you can't miss it.

“Don't Go Out Of Your Way”
Reviewed 3 March 2013

Beautiful old Cypress right off Hwy 101. If you are passing that way, stop to see it but don't go out of your way. The Museum was closed both times we stopped by so we drove on up the Oregon Redwood Trail until it turned over a bridge and went from asphalt to gravel. There is a picnic table under the Cypress but the view isn't the best around. As said by others, now we have seen it.

“Indeed Oregon's Largest Monterey Cypress tree, for what that's worth”
Reviewed 19 February 2013

Being Oregon's Largest Monterey Cypress tree is a bit like being the biggest ball of string in South Dakota. That said, it is a beautiful tree and is right off the highway, so why not slow down for a closer look? If you're not driving past it, it probably isn't worth driving to see.

“Well, now we've seen it.”
Reviewed 21 August 2012

Don't go out of your way to see this. Even, my husband a forester, is happy with a driveby from the high way. It's big, it's pretty. It's a tree in someone's front yard. Go to the nearby Redwoods instead.
