Stayed the last few days of July with my family of 4 ( kids aged 4&8) and had a wonderful time. Unit #28 was spacious for a 1940's motel. Separate bedroom was great to separate us from the kids on the pull out and previous reviews for bad beds are now unfounded as all mattresses have been replaced and are plush.
Perfect location half a block from the beach with no roads to cross so it was easy to get to with the kids.
Room was clean and beach cottage decorated. Staff very friendly and helpful. We had a fire in the pit in the courtyard every night ( firewood available at the general store a couple blocks down) We did not get in our car the whole time as everything was walkable.
Great kite flying on beach and beautiful town with not a single chain store in sight. Felt like we went back in time. (In a good way;)

Dear JenPea,
Wow, thanks for your great feedback, it sounds like you had the perfect get-a-way at the beach with the kids. We are pleased to know you enjoyed our location, the room and garden area, as well as our friendly staff. Cannon Beach does not allow chain stores within the city limits, or neon signs, as well as many other ordinances that make it a special place, and it’s so gratifying when our visitors notice! Regarding our staff, everyone is very dedicated, some of our folks have been with us for over 20 years and care deeply about your comfort. Susana, our Housekeeping Manager, has been with us for 18 years, and our handyman, Abe, almost ten amazing years. Everyone works very hard each day to make sure that your stay is as it should be. We do hope we have the opportunity to see you and your family again in the near future.
Warm Regards,

We've stayed in the same cabin, #37 for 3 years in a row. It fits our needs perfectly. It has 1 double bed, 1 bathroom and a pull out bed for our kids. The kitchen is very basic with a oven/stove top (the right front burner doesn't work and never has), a regular sized fridge, and a microwave. The cabinets house the basics for a casual stay (i.e. plates, a couple serving dishes, etc, a can opener, wine bottle opener, etc). It's a great stay for the price and you are a block from the beach while staying right on the main drag of town. We enjoy dinner and smores by the fire in the courtyard (there is a fire pit and grill, don't forget to bring the firewood). If you like the simple life, this is a great place for you.

Dear Guest,
Thank you so much for taking time to share your feedback. We are terribly sorry about the burner on the stove, you are the first person to report it! We sent our handyman over there the minute I read this. We’re so sorry for your trouble. It's great to know that you appreciate how close the beach is to this small apartment unit and we’re happy to hear you took advantage of our popular fire pit with smores! We sincerely hope that we will see you on your next visit to Cannon Beach. We value your business and appreciate your comments, it is a nice way for us to address issues and provide further service.

These are not really cottages but units in two rows adjacent to a pretty garden. The units are like miniture beach houses, all white and clean and minimalist. The fittings are all high quality and although we didn't self cater, it looked as if everything had been provided to do so. Being English the best thing for us was a tea kettle. This is a rare thing in an American hotel and we were thrilled to be able to make tea with boiling water and store fresh milk in the refrigerator. The shower is tiny but works very well even with the dreaded curtain. We spent one night in room 31 which is an end unit and nicely private even though the property was fully occupied. There is some noise from the road and other guest and dogs, but nothing intolerable. If you don't like dogs don't come to Cannon Beach, it is dog city central!
I would really recommend this lovely property for a relaxing beach house stay.

Dear Guest,
Thank you so much for choosing the McBee Cottages on your recent stay in Cannon Beach. Gosh, all the way from England to Cannon Beach, what a pleasure to have you come! And thank you for providing feedback about what you experienced. We apologize for the noise, in July and August there will be some, of course there’s not much we can do. In the off season, however, it is very quiet here. And, regarding dogs, yes, you certainly got that right! Recently, I read that Oregon has 29% more pet owners than any other state in the union! Cannon Beach certainly sees a good share of them. Thank you for noticing the tea kettle, I'm a tea drinker myself and made sure tea drinkers are accommodated! We certainly welcome the opportunity to host you again during your next visit to the US.

We made last minute reservations for two nights at the cottages. I could tell within the first few seconds of speaking with the receptionist over the phone this would be a great place to stay. She was extremely friendly and even gave us a discount on the rate. The room was lovely and clean and had a fireplace, which came in handy as it was chilly in the evening. The location is perfect, with the windows down you can hear the ocean and smell the ocean breeze. We were only steps away from the beach. The only thing missing was our dogs. Next time they are coming with us as they are a very pet friendly establishment. I highly recommend staying at McBee Cottages.

We stayed at McBee for 4 nights. We had cottage 32, a " Grand" which had a cooker, so we could self cater. The room was bright and airy and quite well equipped.

All of the mattresses were renewed at the cottages while we were there, so don't be put off by any other reviews with negative references to old beds!

Loved Cannon Beach!

Room tip: Room 32 is on the end of the row, so has a small garden area to sit in.
