This is my 3rd time staying at The Waves, and the 4th unit that I've stayed in there. The units range from being "just ok" to being "really super nice". You won't know what you're getting until you get there. I will say that it's a pretty expensive place to stay, and that they don't really differentiate in price whether you get a totally plush unit or whether you get sad old appliances and ginsu knives in the kitchen. The owner is the local fire chief and his wife. He seems like a decent guy, and she comes across as being completely joyless. So... if you're really into good service and smiles, you should either break yourself of that habit or maybe stay somewhere else. Anything other than an oceanfront room means zero view, so don't settle for an ocean view room (because that really does mean that you can just barely see the ocean from where you are.) And... enjoy the town. The upside to The Waves and the other properties that they run is that you're right close to downtown. There are fun places for snacks, and a nice little main street to browse. The beach is beautiful!

Room Tip: Don't make a reservation, and be ready to move on. If you have a reservation, that means that y...

We were in an oceanside room which costed us $219. This place is very near the beach. It is clean and neat. A little expensive, that is why we had expected more posh rooms. But nothing wrong with it otherwise.

This is our 10th year staying at the Waves. It's hard to go to another location when it's already perfect. You are right downtown so you can walk to all of the great shops, restaurants and the beach is literally steps aways. Although you are downtown it's so quiet and feel like you are secluded from all of the tourists. Our boys, 10 and 7 love that they can ride their scooters to all of the shops. They also love taking a jacuzzi at night. The rooms are nice sized with a well equipped kitchenette. My biggest suggestion would be to upgrade the TV's (they are really outdated) and put on comfortable down comforters on the beds. Every year we think about going some place else but we just can't do it, the Waves is perfect for our family of 4.

Our stay at the Waves motel was great! We stayed in the southwind spray studio; which I have to say was the perfect size for our family of 3 (probably could comfortably house a family of 4 if the kids are still small), and excellent location with just a minute's walk to the beach and to the town. Everything was clean and neat, and having the kitchenette in the room was most helpful. Great value for the money; but no frills, so if that is what you are looking for, possibly book a different room with them or go look somewhere else. We did notice the room was a bit on the warm side; (the night lows were in the low 50's and we had no heat on and were still pretty hot!). Then we noticed the room was directly above the laundry room, so if you book this room, be prepared for some heat! Not too hot, probably about 75 degrees inside the whole time we stayed in that room (outside was upper 60's at most), but you will definitely want your windows open! There are no screens on the windows, which is great for the views, but not so great if you don't want pests in the room you are trying to cool down from the laundry room heat. Otherwise, a great, clean little room, perfect size for a long weekend, and the location is fantastic! A great place to stay!

The waves was a great find for a good price. Room was clean and comfortable. The Waves staff were personable and kind. The room was quiet also at least our room was on the top floor. View was wonderful.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the waves hotel where we were greeted by very friendly staff and a clean spacious room with a view of the ocean. It was quiet and comfortable with a well appointed kitchen and a full size fridge (not the wimpy dorm room size). Being right in the heart of everything at Cannon Beach just added to the whole package. From check-in to check-out, it was a great experience.

I was in a unit (103) away from the beach, but no problem short walk to beach as well as shops.
Room renovated last year, very bright and modern decore. The upstairs room had a king and single bed. Friendly and helpful staff. Good value.
