“The Waves”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

Our family has been sharing a vacation together with another family for over 20 years. We each have 3 (now) grown children and we share meals, games and outdoor family fun together. We have stayed at various places in the past, but none had the best overall accommodation, until we stayed at the Waves. At the Waves we found the best overall ambiance, locale (right on the sea wall, but still only 2 blocks from the center of town), and useable space indoors for activities or sleeping. This is our go to place for a great week of family games, recreation, food and bonding. We are especially fond of the collection of 5 separate houses managed by the Waves, called the Argonauta . You have your choice of 5 individual units, from a small, affordable, cozy studio, called the Upper Light House, all the way up to the very spacious 2 story Beach House, which sleeps up to 10-12, with picture perfect ocean front views, large kitchen and dining area and ample living space for large groups to share comfortably. If you're looking for a memorable family or couple vacation, check out the options at The Waves.

I had a wonderful stay at the Waves at Cannon Beach. I booked at the last minute and the Waves had the only affordable room in the town. It turned out to be clean, steps from the beach, and right in the little downtown area. There was initially a problem with the lock on my door which they were extremely prompt in fixing. I had a great experience at this Motel, highly recommended.

I don't know about the rest of the motel but the condo, (B1 which they tell you is a two bedroom suite) we were in is dated and dirty. For the money we've spent I would definitely stay some place else. If you have small children DO NOT stay in the Sandcastle condos B1. The back sliders open to the street and we had to go the hardware store to buy child proof locks just so the kids couldn't get out back and on to the busy street. The maid service also overlooked the previous guest's used underwear they left behind in the closet. I chose The Waves b/c of the reviews here and I'm absolutely disappointed and will definitely choose another place for our family to stay next time. Cannon Beach is a lovely place to visit so we made the most of it! Cookware was unusable also and had to go to the office to get more.

Room Tip: Don't choose the condos if you stay at the Waves.

We chose The Waves because my aunt and uncle had stayed there before. We had to wait a long time for check in- nearly 4:20 (check in is from 3-4) only to find a run down suite for us to stay in. The couch/sleeper sofa had bleach stains and holes, looked like it came from Goodwill. The bed linens were haphazardly put together- even te Holiday Inn makes beds better! The bathroom was small for the number we had (8) and had the only mirror in the whole place for getting ready. Check out time is 11am, so I don't understand why we couldn't get in sooner- it certainly can't take the cleaners that long to clean up those places!
The only good part was the location. We were one block from the beach and walking distance to everything in town.
The stff there really needs to invest some time and money into their places! I will not go back unless I can see my room before being stuck with it!

We take our family to a yearly vacation to Seaside. We had visited Cannon Beach for lunch on several of these trips and when we were planning a 3 day getaway just the two of us we thought Cannon Beach would be perfect. We chose the Waves just based on a whim. We were amazed at the place and have been going on weekend getaways about 4 times a year and always use the Waves as our accomodations. We have seen Groupons for other spots, but we cannot resist staying at our Favorite Place The Waves. We even call and get the same room most of the time. The rooms are perfectly placed for an amazing view, cute little balconies or patios. The rooms are clean, close to everything, a few steps from the beach. If you leave your window open you can hear the surf as you drop off to sleep. We have recommended this place to everyone we know who takes a trip to Cannon Beach and they have all thanked us over and over for this great little find. The staff is friendly and accomodating. Well manicured flowers and lawns, clean and well laid out rooms. Nice and quiet, but we still see families staying but we don't hear much. The parking can be an issue, but there are lots of parking options on the street surrounding the place.

Room Tip: Flagship studio rooms face the lighthouse and are perfect for 2 people.

We stayed at The Waves for 3 nights in July and loved our time there. Our room was in a great location as we could walk into town without having to drive. Easy and hassle free. Our deck offered a nice view of the ocean and the property was very peaceful and clean. The bed was super comfy and we loved the soft sheets. The murphy bed was also comfortable and a nice addition to the suite. We loved the 2 person jacuzzi tub - a great way to warm up after being outside all day. The service was great, in fact we forget an item in the room and they mailed it to us promptly the next day. We look forward to returning soon. Thank-you for making our vacation so easy, comfortable and wonderful!

Room Tip: Rooms on second floor probably offer better views but we were quite content with first floor north w...

We drove in on First Sunday of August and they still had vacancy on this sunny day. The room with king size bed on the lower floor has partial view yet when you are in the sitting area you clearly see the ocean. The balcony has direct access to outside and steps from the beach. The kitchenette along the wall is great with all you need( dishes, cutlery etc) if you like to have breakfast in the room. Across the street, 1 minute from stepping outside your from balcony, you have a great coffee shop tp get your espresso ( called Insomnia!). The bathroom is small and simple but has what you need. We will be back.
