“Gastronomic experience!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2014

The Cannon Beach Café is located right on Hemlock St. just south of the main city centre and a few minutes from public beach access and Haystack Rock. It is a small restaurant with ~8 tables and is part of the Cannon Beach Hotel. We had dinner but they offer breakfast and lunch although breakfast is only available for hotel guests between 8am and 10am.

The menu doesn't change much but they do have specials for dinner. In our case it was a fresh Halibut and Cooper River Salmon....more on that later. The wine list is small and very reasonable with about 5 whites, 5 reds and a few sparkling offerings. Prices on the menu were very reasonable with the most expensive wine being around $100 but most were around $30. Entrees were also around $30 and were good sized.

She had the Halibut and I had the Salmon and both were absolutely amazing. Paired with a great Pinot and the meal was fantastic. Service was excellent and the chef came out and chatted with us which was a nice touch.

This is definitely one of those hidden gems that should not be missed. I would recommend reservations particularly during the weekend.

“Cannon Beach Cafe - highly recommend!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2014

We visited the Cannon Beach cafe on May 27th and had a great lunch and overall experience. I would highly recommend this place if you are staying in (or passing through) Cannon Beach.

This cafe is co-located with the Cannon Beach Hotel, a historic building operating as a B&B. The location couldn't be better - just a block from the beach and directly opposite the iconic Haystack Rock. In contrast to other restaurants in this part of town, the Cannon Beach Cafe had very good food at reasonable prices, with very friendly and professional service.

Some others have commented that this cafe offers vegetarian and vegan choices and this is true. In fact, I enjoyed a very good vegan coconut curry soup-of-the-day as an appetizer. However, they also have a good selection of meat dishes, including an amazing looking french dip. The creativity of the menu and outstanding flavor of our meals was unexpected for this small cafe. The word must be getting out, since the place was busy!

The service also deserves mention. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and in this small setting we felt very comfortable and relaxed. It appears that the cafe recently changed ownership and the new owner/chef personally checked on us to make sure we were happy with our meals.

Overall we had an unexpectedly wonderful meal at this cafe and we would highly recommend this place.

“Fantastic!! Veg Friendly restaurant!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

First, let me say that if you are looking for a vegan or vegetarian friendly restaurant on the Oregon coast, you MUST stop here. This place is also offers lots of gluten free options and much of the ingredients are listed as organic.

I walked in to a full restaurant with cute cafe style tables. My hubby and 3 kids were parking the car. I was immediately acknowledged by Pierre - a very attentive and friendly host with a French accent. The place was packed, so he invited me into the hotel lobby to wait for the next available table for 5 guests. The cafe is located adjacent to the historic Cannon Beach hotel, so I enjoyed the wait in this charming little lobby.

What was so impressive about this restaurant's food is how incredibly healthy it was AND delicious. Nothing was deep fried and there were tons of raw vegetables, but prepared in such a way they tasted like gourmet treats. Want to see your kids hoover vegetables? Take them here.

Here is what we ordered. Take note that we eat "family-style" so we share everything and order more if someone likes something and is still hungry.

1. Roasted Root Hummus - beets, carrots, chickpeas, tahini yumminess served with carrots, celery, and chips. We ended up ordering a second one of these, since the kids loved it so much.

2. Vegan Edamame Black Bean Burger - with avocado, romaine, tomato, and cucumber on it. YUM.

3. Vegan Sweet Potato Burger - with avocado, romaine, and cucumber on it. We ordered a second one of these as well, since our 6 year old son LOVED it. I am pretty sure there was a little peanut butter in this one and it hit the spot for him.

4. Garden Vegetable Sandwich - tons of fresh vegetables with some vegan mayo. This one was my favorite.

5. Apple & Fennel slaw salad - hubby and I were keen on this more than the kids. I think it appeals to a more sophisticated palate.

Pierre kept his eye on us the whole time and did an excellent job. The place was VERY busy, so I know they did they best they could. We told him how much we loved the food and appreciated the vegetarian friendly options. He positively beamed and thanked us.

The place also has some outdoor seating, so if you are looking for that, you can find it here. We will certainly be back for any trip down to this area. Can't recommend it highly enough. Great food and fantastic service!

Please note this place is open seasonally and only open for dinner during peak summer season. We tried to come for dinner the night prior and learned they open for dinner in June.

“A gem in Cannon Beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2014

Today, we stopped by the Cannon Beach cafe after a relaxing walk on the beach. The cafe was a breath of fresh air. The atmosphere was calm and the food was very good. The service was excellent and the chef/owner even came out to say hello and thank us for stopping by. A big THANK YOU to the cafe for a lovely afternoon.
