Stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath townhouse during mid May, 2012 with my wife and two kids. The resort was almost perfect, and I am certain we will stay here again, probably quite often. The townhouses are very nicely appointed and everything was very clean. The beds were extremely comfortable with nice linens. The full kitchen had stainless steel appliances and nearly every culinary device you could possibly need. There was a nice iPod enabled stereo, a couple of flat screen TVs, a DVD player and even free DVDs to borrow. The bathrooms were also beautiful and continued the theme of including everything you might need, even a bookrest for the bathtub and towels for the beach. The staff were also extremely friendly and helpful. The “lobby” has free coffee, tea, fresh baked cookies and salt water taffy all day long. I think my wife and kids set a record for the amount of tea and cookies they consumed. There’s a free continental breakfast with fresh fruit, hot and cold cereal, all kinds of baked goods, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, juices, coffee, etc.. The weather was nice our entire stay and we had breakfast each morning outside in a small courtyard with a grapevine covered trellis. The beach is only a short, 1-2 block walk away, and we even had a small view of the ocean from our great room and balcony. There is a nice bakery and a small market right across the street. There are only a few negatives we can think of. First is the price. We paid $260/night in the off-season. For the size, quality and location of our townhouse, I think it’s a great value. I’m sure it’s more expensive, probably a lot more, in the summer. Second, it is slightly removed from the main, commercial part of Cannon Beach, requiring a short drive to reach the shops and restaurants of “downtown” Cannon Beach. However, we saw this as an advantage, making the resort and accompanying part of the beach far less crowded. In the summer when parking and traffic downtown are worse, this could become a detraction. Third, there is no air conditioning, although there are ceiling fans in the great room and bedrooms. It reached the high 70’s during our stay and we did not miss it. In fact, there is a wonderful seashore breeze that flows throughout the house if you open the windows. In those rare occurrences in the summer when it reaches the high 80’s to 90’s, I could see not having AC being an issue for us. Other than those small items, the Lodges at Cannon Beach was a great resort for us, and I am sure we will be staying here again in the future.
