“Location is all”

Room #24 is a double with bathroom on the ground floor. At the end of August 2013, it smelled terribly of urine. The Inn allows dogs and my assumption is that the previous guest or guests did not properly train their pets or over taxed their pets' bladders. The smell was overwhelming and unfortunately there was nowhere else to stay in Cannon Beach on race Sunday. The smell is in the carpeting in the bedroom and the floor of the bathroom and a layer of febreze was an unsuccessful attempt at mitigation. The window by the bed does open. Owners are not on premises. General handyman available.
On the positive side, the location is excellent with just a short, straightforward walk to the beach close to the Haystack. In walking distance down the street is the Sleepy Monk/Irish Table which is a lovely and delicious coffee shop and in the evening, restaurant. Across the street is Newman's which can be very nice. Good wifi. Bed and linens were clean and in good shape.

When you first book your stay at the Harrison Street Inn, you are informed that the full amount of your stay will be due a week prior to your visit. OK: then once you are paid in full, you find that there is indeed no office, and no maid service either but they give you extra towels. Also if you lock yourself out of the room (easy to do with more than a couple people), you will be charged $15.00 for someone to come out and let you in. Also you are not allowed to contact the owner when the WiFi doesn't work. And it doesn't work by the way, so folks dependent on computers will be very angry, and the TV is spotty too. Obviously an absentee owner and off site manager, never saw any manager, maid or any other person other than guests.
When you arrive and get your keys out of the lock box (no office remember), you enter your room to find that there is no real way to heat the place as all heaters are filthy and clogged with dirt or dust. Also there is no working lock on the bathroom door and no real way to vent the bathroom. Yes there is a small vent in the window in the ceiling but it is so clogged with bugs, debris and dead moths as to be unusable. Also the faucets leak and the toilet leaks or sweats excessively so wet is the order of the day in the bathroom.
You provide your own coffee, tea and Kleenex. They provide toilet paper and paper towels but not enough paper towels due to all the leakage so you will need to buy extras of those also. Also you must announce when you are going into the bathroom or risk folks walking in on you.
Also of note, the decorative window that is between the living room and the bedroom, can be easily seen through so watch it when you are changing, and if kids are sleeping on the futon in the living room, that ends any chance of romance for mom and dad.
Overall a very unpleasant experience. Yes most of these things can be tolerated, but you don't pay nearly $200.00 a night to have to tolerate service like this, which was basically serve yourself. Next time I will pay a few extra dollars to stay at a much nicer place so I can enjoy my time on the beach and in town, which were the wonderful parts of the trip.

Room Tip: No pool or fitness center, no maid service at all, no WiFi, poor TV, no lock on bathroom or way to v...

We stayed here end of April 2013 and it was great. There is no front office or checking in so there is literally no hassle at all. We ever were allowed to check in early! There is free wifi in the place and also at a coffee shop across the street and a great little pub called The Hardware Store almost beside it. The internet in the place wasn't working properly at first so we emailed the guy and he came over right away to reboot the router and it worked no problem! Very close to the beach and there is one free onsite parking at the place but there is free beach parking the next street over also. The room is small but very nice. Felt clean, shower worked great, there were towels and a few other kitchen items and a small fridge. I would recommend this place to anyone that it not looking for an "all in style" hotel. We are both in our late 20's and on a 2 week road trip and this suited out needs and price wonderfully. (No swimming pool or room service so I had to but terrible but it is just because there wasn't any!) :)

The reviews saying the reception was helpful and movies were available were wrong
There is no reception and I was told there was no place to leave my bag
It was cold and raining
Luckily the kind hosts at the sea breeze across the street kept my bag until my 645 bus ( there are movies and popcorn there)
Coffee and tea pots but no coffee or tea
There are so many places to stay in cannon beach that this place can be avoided

We loved the location of this place.
All we needed was a room with a fridge and microwave.
We were going to be out exploring most of the time
The studio didn't have the microwave like the picture shows.
If you are ok with that then it was great. Clean and bright..
We did get a chance to see the 1 bdrm, it had a full kitchen
it is in the back so quite dark, but looked nice.

I stayed here for four nights with my dog in the off-season. The price is perfect. The place is comfy and clean. There is a nice table, small kitchen (no oven, but a cook top), and nice living room area. There is a large futon that has a nice new cover on it. And another chair in the living room. The fireplace is awesome! The bedroom is cozy. The size didn't bother me, and the bathroom is nice and spacious.

There is traffic noise, and you can hear the people below you. I couldn't hear their TV or snoring. But, I could hear people below me--which isn't that unexpected in a duplex with two stories. It wasn't as bad as some hotels with paper thin walls. In the winter, windows are closed so the traffic wasn't too bad. But, in the summer, it might be noisy as it's on the main street through town. But, for the location--two blocks to the beach, right in the middle of mid-town with a great coffee place a block away--it can't be beat.
