We began coming to Cannon Beach in early 1989. The previous motel on this property was the Major Motel. We stayed here until it was sold in 2001 to the current owners who transformed the property to the Lodge it is today. Choice rooms are 101-107. These open up to the lawn. 201-207 are up one story. All the massive timbers, reclaimed wood floors and old school bleechers stairways and the large log wood burning fireplace in the lobby add to the ambiance. Nice breakfast each morning, coffee and snacks during the day. The location is on the south end of Cannon Beach, which we think is the best stretch of beach where the water comes as close at high tide than other areas.
The old Major Motel would be proud of what is now the Ocean Lodge

Our plans changed and we were arriving dinner time without reservations in this upscale beach town. i called several and Bonny on the telephone was so nice and accommodating that we went here first. As soon as we drove up we were impressed. She showed us several rooms and did everything possible to make us comfortable. The room had a wonderful view of Haystack and was large and very comfy. We would definitely stay here again and would send our friends.

I have to be honest--a great, great location--nice staff--but...We have stayed here several times. The rooms need updating...showing wear. The breakfast never changes..adequate..but not much different from run of the mill chain motels. Honestly, for the price, there are other places better. You are paying for location mostly...and the location is spectacular if you are on the ocean-side...otherwise overlooking the parking lot. So, spend a bit more for ocean view.

We have now stayed at all of the " higher end" hotels in Cannon Beach with this recent visit to The Ocean Lodge. We stayed in each hotels " Best Rooms" as we enjoy coming to Cannon Beach to enjoy the privacy of a nice room, we seldom venture out during our stays other than having a nice dinner as we have seen and done every outdoor activity in CB. This room at the Ocean Lodge was a nice room BUT in comparison in price/ decor and layout, staff, to staying next door at the Stephanie Inn, it was a disappointment. We rank the hotels in CB in this order; Stephanie Inn, The Ocean Lodge, Surf Sand Resort, and Hallmark Resort.

This place I'd cool. I always give low ratings for value because I think all hotels charge too much. We did get a reduced rate of $260 for the night we stayed here. We were greeted by very friendly and accommodating staff for our last minute stay. They had a room for us on the beach. Rooms are clean and spacious with microwave, mini fridge, plates, utensils, glasses and cups for the coffee in the room. They also have coffee and chocolate chip cookies in the lobby. No dog hair in our room and the bed was comfortable. There are also tons of books and the newest DVDs available. I wish we could have stayed here longer. I would ask for an upper floor room. The first floor rooms are subject to noise from the upstairs neighbors banging on the floor.

This was our first time to the Northwest. It was so beautiful and green, and the ocean unlike other ocean experiences We've had. My favorite time was sunrise with a little mist around haystack rock and the tide pools exposed due to low tide. Seeing all the colorful starfish and sea creatures was so fun. The Ocean Lodge was in a perfect location. Far enough away from town to feel uncrowded, but close enough to go enjoy all the small town had to offer. We stayed in room 309 and it was so nice, view was perfect. We didn't hear any neighbors, just the kitchen staff doing dishes...they provide a nice breakfast. The cookies were a nice thing to come in and find after walking the beach. The bed was very comfortable and listening to the ocean all night was the best sound machine anyone could ask for. We kept the back sliding door open and it was the perfect temp to sleep in, love the relaxed easy feeling they had on the coast. We found this saying in a shop and bought a mat and frame to put our own photo in that stated "I go to the sea to breath". I think that sums it up. When we return we will stay at the Ocean Lodge.

Room Tip: The ground level rooms that walk out to the beach do not always have an ocean view due to a large gr...

My husband and I have stayed in a few places here in our favorite place, Cannon Beach and the one we love the most is The Ocean Lodge. Nestled in a quaint and cozy residence with ocean front views and just a skip away from the fun little town of Cannon Beach. The Ocean Lodge delivers an outstanding service, beautiful spacious rooms, and smiles! The price per night is high but we can justify the expense considering how often we go to Cannon Beach, once a year. We like to be comfortable while at the beach and this place gives you all that and more! One year I made arrangements with the staff to have chocolates, wine, and flowers placed in our room upon our arrival in honors of our anniversary and it was done so beautifully! Every night they would spiffy up our room and leave chocolate on our pillows. Love their fireplace in the lobby for anyone to enjoy with a book. Every morning they have various breakfast meals, simply and delicious. And lastly not least they are dog friendly as we have 2 golden retrievers. Across from the main lodge are newly built condos/time shares. This lodge is a must stay! You won't be disappointed. It's our piece of heaven : )
