“Perfect location, great rooms, the beach at your door”
Reviewed 28 July 2012

After reading reviews of many cannon beach lodgings, I choose the ocean lodge. Boy am I glad I did. Had an Oceanside room on the first floor with a patio that allowed one to walk right out to the beach. It was covered from the deck above which was nice when It rained. The chairs and tables on the patio invited you to sit and relax. There is a nice view of Haystack Rock which is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. It is about a 15 minute walk into town. A bonus is that Mo's seafood restaurant is only five blocks a 2 minute walk up the beach. The hotel is in a quiet residential section away from the hectic town which meant peaceful nights. The location is prefect to me but if you want to walk often into town this may not be your best choice. You can drive but parking is tight in town. The room was very clean, shower amazing and even a small mini kitchen with sink, fridge, microwave. A fireplace in the room added nice warmth. A continental breakfast was included and had mostly cereal, pastry, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, the usual fair. A nice touch were trays to allow the option of carrying your breakfast back to your room to eat on the ocean patio. The staff was great as well, very friendly. They allow dogs which may bother some non dog owners. I never heard a peep from any dog and the ocean lulled me to sleep. You can also have your own bonfire on the beach which we saw others enjoying one night. Now that I have stayed at the ocean lodge, I can never again stay anywhere else in cannon beach. I will definitely return.

Room Tip: I really liked the first floor room rather than one higher up and the view was just as nice. It was...

We stayed at room 310 on the third floor, a very tastefully decorated Deluxe Ocean Front studio with a balcony overlooking the beach and Haystack Rock. The lodge is located right on the beach, a little south of Haystack Rock. The view from the balcony is magnificent! It is next door to the more expensive Stephanie Inn. The studio room is very spacious (about 350 square feet) and very functional with mini kitchenette that includes a sink, microwave and coffee maker. The living area includes a nice fireplace and sofa. The complimentary continental breakfast is very nice, I especially liked the quality bagels. The staff is friendly. They offer tasty cookies in the lobby. The lobby and the rooms have a very warm Northwest feel.

Room Tip: Request a room with ocean view on third floor.

Love our stay even tho weather was misty all weekend long, but...a family of kids stayed in the room above us and there was very little sound insulation when kids are jumping or playing basketball. Note they cater to families w/ children and dogs.

Our stay in late May 2012 was equally wonderful as it was in 2007! The property is maintained with great care, the staff is warm and willing to share their knowledge. Breakfast is served in a lovely bight room with vaulted ceilings, the fireplaces are a treat to have, the balconies and views couldn't be better.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are the best and the majority offerthat!

My family and extended family spent five nights here in July. While the weather was a mixed bag of cloud, fog and the occasional hint of sun, we had a wonderful vacation. We all had rooms facing the ocean and, while being pricey, was definitely worth the cost. The views of the beach, ocean and Haystack Rock were spectacular. Our room was very clean and nicely laid out. We had a separate bedroom with a queen bed and a living room area with a pull out bed. My only complaint is that the pull out bed was like sleeping on a slab of concrete. Perhaps management could provide a feather bed or something similar to make these beds more comfortable!

The staff were very friendly and knowledgable about the local area. The breakfast buffet was adequate and we found there was always a baked goody or cookies to munch on during the day, along with endless coffee, teas and hot chocolate. The kids loved being able to help themselves to drinks and cookies!

In the evening you can purchase firewood ($7 a bundle) from the front desk and have a camp fire on the beach. This was a huge hit with the kids. The town and local shopping is a few minutes drive away. Very quaint shops and worth checking out. There is only one very small market in town, so be warned if you need groceries you may want to go into Seaside. We ate out most nights: highly recommend The Lumberyard in town. Overall, I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

Stayed at Ocean Lodge for two nights in June. It was a sunny week here on the Pacific North West (sunny days are a rare commodity up here), so we decide to drive three hours to Cannon Beach. Cannon Beach is one of our favorite places to visit. We go there over three times a year, but this was our first time staying at the Ocean Lodge. It’s a very beautiful place. The rooms are clean, a Jacuzzi in the bathroom and a lovely balcony. The sound of the ocean from our room and the views of the Haystack Rock were just amazing. Haystack Rock is home to nesting seabirds and marine invertebrates. Tide poolers are drawn to this amazing rock. Our daughter was able to touch starfish, and other tide pool inhabitants at the Haystack Rock. I agree with several people who have pointed out that breakfast had too much pastries and less protein, hopefully this would be rectified soon. The staff were friendly and helpful and we will be back again at Ocean Lodge.

We are from the midwest but heard about this amazing hotel located right on the Pacific Ocean on the Oregon coast. When we knew we were going to be in the area we booked the Ocean Lodge on the recommendation of a friend. She was right! Great hotel, great staff, great location, great experience! It's not a bargain price but then again I don't think anything on the ocean in this resort community is going to be inexpensive. The rates here are significantly less than the more famous hotel right next door but the views are the same. We stayed in room 214 with a corner view of Haystack rock, a fireplace, and Jacuzzi tub. This was a fine choice being quite for sleeping. We even left the door open with a screen to hear the ocean all night. We were in town over the 4th of July so there were lots of families and small kids around but there was never any noise interfering with our sleep. The staff put on a great BBQ for the guests which was well attended and much appreciated. Parking is plentiful and free, the staff go out of their way to be helpful, and the location on the ocean is superb. You can't go wrong with this choice!
