“Accomodation and Location”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

This was our second stop during our visit to the Portland area. We were looking forward to a relaxing vacation and certainly found it here. Our room was at the end of the lodge and was perfect. It had a gas fireplace, and while we did not have a view of the ocean, we had our windows open and could easily hear the waves throughout the day and night. We were steps away from the ocean where we could walk on the beach during the day towards the rocks and made sure to come back before the tide came in. The Lodge even offered to create a bonfire for us on the beach if we wanted. Maybe the greatest detail of the Lodge was its freshly-baked cookies for all travelers. A few things to know: 1. Breakfast was basic, but plentiful; 2. We visited in April and it was still cold, so make sure to bring a sweater and shoes so you can enjoy the outside area longer; 3. The Lodge made excellent dinner recommendations, but you will need to drive to the restaurants (about 5 minutes away);

I teach an annual watercolor workshop in Cannon Beach and The Ocean Lodge has been the art students "home away from home" for 12 years!
The lodge is right on the water with stellar views of Haystack Rock which changes as the light transforms it throughout the day.
The rooms have fireplaces, high thread count linens, and the breakfast that is included offers a wide range of choices.
What really sets this lodge apart from the rest is their service. The staff - from the front desk to housekeeping - have always been happy, very helpful and kind. It all starts from the top, with the general manager who sets this tone of warm hospitality.

A romantic getaway to the infamous Cannon Beach, OR [beautiful NW coastline beach] featuring HAYSTACK...has to include a stay at The Lodges. The rooms have an amazing and awesome view of world famous Haystack. The elongated beach is just out your front door balcony 300 ft.

The room had a private balcony with sitting area for gazing at the Blue, Blue Pacific Ocean, screened patio door for listening to the roar of the incessant ocean waves, romantic fireplace, nicely furnished and meticulously clean sleeping area with a private hot tub/Jacuzzi in the bathroom with large tiled shower for two...

All in all, a perfectly laid out accommodation for Haystack and the Pacific ocean...Staff is professional and helpful as to recommending local eateries including a three ring binder of the respective menus to peruse for comparison and selections...j

We toured Oregon and stayed in this hotel - we paid a little extra to have the ocean view suite and it was really worth it. The views were simply stunning! To be able to sit in our room and watch and hear the waves crashing was a rare treat.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and did everything they could to make our stay pleasurable. Had we been staying longer ( we were only there one night) we would certainly have made use of the library - both the books and the DVD's. The beds were very comfortable and the room a good size. It is however a drive from any restaurants.

My mother and I stayed one night on our week long tour of the Pacific Northwest. I was able to get a reservation the day before and it was by far the best stay of the trip. The room had a fireplace and sunk in tub with views of the beach and haystack rock. The location was south of town but parking was close and the quiet was suitable for the less traveled side of the beach. The staff was friendly and Karen served breakfast with a smile while comfortably chatting with us about Columbia River Gorge and Portland. I wish we could have stayed longer to pamper ourselves.

Room Tip: The first floor balconies were connected and has a small grass dune in front of the ocean. I would...

We spent one night here and were pleased with our experience overall. Pros: Large and immaculate room with a comfortable king bed. Great to have a kitchenette and a balcony with amazing views on the Pacific. Just steps from Haystack Rock on the incredibly gorgeous beach. Satisfying and healthy self-serve breakfast with fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, etc. Cons: The desk receptionist who checked us in was chirpy and indifferent, as if she was reading a script and not dealing with actual human beings. It was tricky to find the parking lot since there are no signs. The balconies are adjacent to one another with no walls, so there isn't any privacy. And considering we didn't know the area, we felt a bit isolated since we were two miles from the charming town of Cannon Beach, with its lively shops and eateries, which was too much for us to deal with on foot after driving all day. (Luckily the nearby Warren House Pub filled the bill with an excellent meal.) On balance, this property is certainly in the plus column... but it's really designed for guests who want to be right on the beach and not in the heart of town.

Arrived on Sunday the day of the huge storm. Raining and blowing so hard. It was very comfortable and cozy in our unit, looking right out onto the ocean. Walking the beach was great fun even with the very hard wind. So nice having a suite.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room on beach with an ocean viewm.
