“25th anniversary”
Reviewed 4 August 2008

We spent 4 nights to celebrate our 25th anniversary. After spending almost $500/night I had high expectations. While the breakfast and views a phenomenal, the wine and cheese was OK and the evening cordials fair at best(only one option each evening). The staff was pleasant but failed to correctly make dinner reservations on 2 occasions. The shower door had mold and mildew along the edges. The bathroom walked out of the 1980's, laminate and wallpaper with basic white ceramic tile in the shower. We turned on the jacuzzi and mold shot out in the the bubble bath (that we had to purchase). To get a "bow on the door" documenting your anniversary, they require you to purchase an "anniversary package" for an extra fee. For the price we have stayed at several resorts where for this amount of money/night, you not only got complementary bubble bath but 3 gourmet meals a day and a bottle of wine/champagne on arrival.

My friend and I just spent two nights at the Stephanie Inn, and we were thrilled with the location, the buffet breakfast, and the room. I was a little hesitant in booking a first floor room (Room 105), because I wasn't sure if the green berm that divides the hotel and the beach would block the ocean view. But it doesn't - you can see the waves crashing against the shore, and Haystack rock to the right of the hotel. Not only is the view excellent, but you can walk right onto a private patio adjacent to the room, walk the little cobblestone pathway, and then onto the green grass (which felt like velvet!) and then down to the beach via a small stairway. I thought that was very convenient, and first floor rooms were less expensive! The wine and cheese tastings in the evenings were fun (classical music playing softly in the background), but best of all were the complimentary breakfast buffets. Excellent quality with their chicken apple sausages, bacon, eggs, black berries, cherries, kiwi (best kiwi I ever had!), wonderful scones, and the list of quality food goes on. There is a feeling of intimacy and "home" here. How wonderful to find staff who are so friendly and accommodating in this day and age! The rooms do have clerestory windows with screens, which you can leave open to get some fresh air and to hear the waves. Warning - although it was in the 50's during the day, and high in the mid 60's during the day, I think if you go to Cannon Beach during the summer, you should find a hotel with AC, otherwise I think rooms in this town could get stuffy. At least this Inn has AC. And they give you a lantern to use at night (lots of bonfires on the beach) and wonderfully comfy bathrobes! All in all, we had a very pleasant experience, and one which we will cherish for a long time!

This hotel is absolutely amazing. The hotel staff is extremely professional and very nice. You can tell that their standards are very high as far as the employees they hire - the customer service is phenomenal.
We stayed in a suite on the second level, and I honestly don't know how you could get a better hotel room. You have a gorgeous view of the ocean and Haystack Rock, very comfortable beds, a fireplace, balcony with patio chairs, a spacious jacuzzi, good size tv, access to the beach....the list goes on and on. I just wish I would have stayed more than 1 night!

  • Liked — The location on the beach, customer service, and the in-room amenities
  • Disliked — Nothing to list here...this hotel is one of the finest I've ever stayed at

Stayed at the Stephanie Inn for our second time in July. IT was as lovely as we remembered. We splurged on the Janice Kaye suite, which for us was worth it and memorable. We traveled with several other couples and we all sat on our balcony and watched the sunset and enjoyed it very much. The only thing that was disappointing was the sheets! Ours were pilling and almost threadbare--not nice at all. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay very much. Make sure to go to the appetizer hour from 4-5:30 for snacks and wine.

In May we had a Mother/Daughters night at the Stephanie Inn. The 4 of us were able to get 1 night there. It was the best. We were welcomed warmly at reception. Our large room was on the second floor, end with a large deck and two bedrooms, a fireplace and kitchenette. We also scheduled 4 in-room massages which were fantastic! I was worried we would wear out the masseuse but I didn't need to worry, she was just as great with the last one as she had been with the first. The weather was beautiful. We had a gourmet dinner and it was just delicious. My daughter is a vegetarian and was fixed a beautiful meal also. We had a beach fire and s'mores at dusk, which was so amazing. There were seats on the grass to just relax and enjoy the view, although we preferred to be walking the beach and gazing at Haystack. The Stephanie Inn was so relaxing and gracious, the staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. I hope to go back there soon.

  • Liked — The room was large and very clean. Great bathrooms, one especially large. Comfortable. Great view.
  • Disliked — Everything was great.

We are a single couple in our 30's. We made last minute reservations at the Stephanie Inn for Memorial Day Weekend, which happened to also be my Fiance's Birthday weekend.

While checking in, the person at the front desk greeted her by name and wished her a Happy B-Day (information they asked for when I made the reservation). And when we made it to our room, they had left a hand written B-Day card. Very nice personal touch.

Things we loved: coffee and fresh baked cookies in the lobby 24/7; the library; the breakfast; the location; the staff; the fridge, fireplace and jacuzzi (even in the smaller room); the spa toiletries in the huge bathroom; quiet and relaxing.

Things that could be improved: quality of bedding and room decor.

It was my first time to Cannon Beach. What an incredible place. Even though the weather was crappy, we still had a great time walking the beaches and spending time in town. We'd recommend Bill's Tavern and Brewhouse, Fultano's Pizza and Wayfarer.

All said, we really enjoyed our stay.

Happy Travels
