“Beautiful location!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2013

My wife and I have stayed here at least 10 times over the last 4 years and its always been a wonderful stay. The location is perfect and the room rates are excellent for a beach front location. We booked the 2nd floor suite with a view of Haystack rock every time and its well worth it! The hotel is a particularly good deal in the winter months and the huge bay window overlooking the ocean is great for storm watching while cozied up next to the fireplace.

The good:
-Affordable (for Cannon Beach) beach front accommodations.
-Friendly staff.
-Excellent location.
-kitchen and dishes, futon and fireplace
-clean

The bad:
-nothing special furnishings or decor.
-bathroom is small, again nothing special.
-staff is friendly but due to the small size they can be slow to respond.
-minimum stay requirements all year round.

The last one really bugs me and is the reason we haven't stayed this last year. Unfortunately the hotel has a 2+ day minimum all year round now. For people like my wife and I who can only escape for a night due to work its a real shame and has prevented us from enjoying this hotel over the last year and caused us to take our business elsewhere. If you can stay for a while--I'd recommend it!

I have stayed here twice now. The first time a year ago in the cottage next to the office with my two young children and my parents. The second time now in the 2A king suite with my husband and young kids.
The location is spectacular and makes up for much but the glaring problems are annoying especially since they haven't improved or changed since the first stay.
In both cases there were no sheets left for the pull out bed even though our reservation clearly stated the number of people staying. There were blankets and pillows on the shelf so no mental alarm bell went off in time before the office closed on either visit. There is no after hours contact number. :(
The second issue is cleanliness of the kitchen. Our first visit the kitchen was filthy with crumbs and maggots down between the stove and old cabinets. This time 2a was much cleaner until you actually tried to cook. We brought cookie dough to bake with the kids and had to use their cookie pan (we brought our own but it was too big for the small oven.) Their pan was filthy with brown grease from cooking spray and smoked violently when we tried to use it. There is no soap, brillo or scrubby strong enough to clean it provided and while they have signs saying they clean everything it's now clear they don't do more than a cursory wash of the dishes.
I really want to like this place because of the location but they make it hard with their lack of attention and care.
Better places elsewhere if you look.

It's a nice little property right on the ocean with great beach access. The view from the 1st floor studios (1b) is just OK since it's partly blocked by the embankment. The room was clean and warm (which was nice since it was cold and rainy outside during our stay!). The office staff was super friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Try to get one of the second floor units since these will have better views of the beach

This cluster of cottages in a premium location is one of our favorite vacation getaways. We like to sit on the cliff in one of the white Adirondack chairs and read, snooze, or people watch the day away. Then head into Cannon Beach for some dinner at one of the great seafood restaurants. I haven't seen their remodeled interiors yet. Can't wait till summer!

Room Tip: These are cottages with kitchens. The oceanfront ones are more expensive but the non ocean front ar...

First, my nit pick: This is called a Bed and Breakfast on TA. It is not; it has its own kitchenette, so you can prepare your own. But you will not be served breakfast (go to the Lazy Susan instead!).

Moving on. My wife and I stayed in Studio 1A; our trip was last minute, and with just the two of us we couldn't justify the expense of a larger accommodation. And we were very pleasantly surprised by our cozy little studio.

The room was clean. The walls and furniture are freshly painted and colorful. A comfortable bed (though the pillow was a bit lumpy). And just cute. You can see the ocean from either the bed (sitting up) or you can enjoy your morning coffee sitting in the bay window. But it's not really a direct ocean view.

Because we went in March, it was cold and drizzly outside. But our place stayed comfortable and warm on the inside. The showers were hot, with great pressure (though the stall is a bit small for my 180lb frame) and we never ran out of water. It's not in the center of town, which has its goods and bads, but you'll probably need your own car to get around.

And the beach access and view is amazing. It's so nice just walking outside, with a glass of wine in hand, for a stroll down the beach.

While we'd like to stay in a room with a direct view next time, we would definitely stay in Studio 1A again, and will probably only stay at the Sea Sprite in the future.

Please let me know if this review was helpful.

Our stay at the Sea Sprite was fantastic! What a beautiful place and a breathtaking view...seriously one of the most scenic places I've ever been too! The cottage we stayed in was right on the beach with an amazing view of Haystack Rock. The room was plenty big and very claen. The beds were sooo comfortable and the staff (especially Lori) were friendly and helpful. The town of Cannon Beach was so quiet and the people very friendly. We found several excellent restaurants that were reasonably priced. I had the best pizza at a place whose name I can't remember!! (Began with an 'F') It is not a real party town but excellent for families wanting a fun, quiet, family-friendly place in one of the most spectacular settings. The Sea Sprit was a great place to spend a long weekend!

Going to Cannon Beach is one of our family's favourite destinations. We have tried many different properties over the years but several years ago settled on the SeaSprite. We have stayed in almost every room type at the Haystack and Estuary properties.

Our favourites continue to be the Sea Breeze Cottage #5 at the Haystack and the Eagle's Nest #25 at the Estuary. These are beautiful units and perfect for our family of 3 that wants separate bedrooms. Many great memories of staying in these rooms.

This trip we arrived, without a reservation, unannounced and drove straight to the SeaSprite when we got in town. There was only one room left for New Years Eve, the Sunset Studio 1B. Little hesitant because we didn't think it would be big enough for all of us but since it was the only room, we snapped it up.

This may be our new favourite room, especially for a short visit. This studio is so well thought out and has everything you need in it. Sure it was a little cramped with the twin sofabed pulled out but it was just so cozy and homey it turned out to be the perfect room for this trip.

We had received their newsletter saying the Haystack rooms had been refurbished and new beds put in. They are newly painted and carpeted. The beds new. The kitchen has all the right stuff in it. The bathroom the same. Love the coffee supplied from Astoria. Great tea selection. Excellent DVD selection. Love the folding table to opens up to just the right size for 3 people.

The best part is the view from the bed. This is one of the only rooms that we've seen at the SeaSprite where you can wake up and look directly out at the ocean. It was an unexpected pleasure to do so.

The staff are super friendly and helpful. We always enjoy a nice chat with Bruce and his colleagues. They are part of the atmosphere of the SeaSprite and make this wonderful property even better. We can not recommend the SeaSprite enough.

Room Tip: Try the Blue Heron Cabin for a longer stay. The Eagles Nest at the Estuary is a great family suite a...
