It's been many years since we visited and the trail has been moved since. We got about 1/2 way on the Indian Head beach but it was very muddy and getting over that one large log looked like a trip down the hill if we tried. But it was still a beautiful walk even though it was foggy.

Wow! This is a state jewel. We went in by recommendation of a friend who used to live there, and it did not disappoint. We asked the ranger and he said Cresent Beach hike was his favorite and only steep at the end. We opted for that despite the sign that warned experienced hikers only. It was for experienced hikers! It was steep in more place than one, and one of our "up in agers" needed to turn around. However kids ranging from 8-45 made it, with great fun. It was beautiful, fern deep, and led to the prettiest beach in all of the Oregon Coast. A must do if you can handle the steep out.

There was a very steep up and down hill climb to one of the many beach in this park. It was shaded and wood so gland we had sun screen and bug spray. The look out point was beautiful and had lots of bathroom but they had no soap or door laches inside the stall. We would have had much less of a hike to indian beach but 2 weddings were booked that day at the point and reception on the beach so parking was an hour wait for Indian beach and 10 min for the look out. The beach it self was wonderful lots of sand but no tide pool that was advertise. There some jelly fish and mountian lion warning which we took very seriously as we saw bird remains and selkton on the beach! So we head back before the sun went down. Next time we are finding a beach we can drive on.

I have been visiting Ecola for over 20 years with my family. A beautiful park for short day hikes and stunning views of the ocean. If you like to take pictures this is great for photo opportunities. Take a lunch and enjoy the views. This is just outside of Cannon beach so you can make fun day of it and enjoy all that Cannon Beach has to offer. I try to visit Ecola every time we visit the Oregon coast. It's worth the small fee.

Enjoy the fantastic views from here, and there is a surfing-type beach farther back in the park. We love to hike the trail down to Indian Beach, but be warned!!! It is NOT a trail to do with small children as there is one place in particular that even freaks me out. Very high up on cliff, no guard rail, and you have to pass way too close to the cliff edge to continue on the trail. I wish the park service would find a better way to do this. I gives me the heebie jeebies to think of kids running ahead on this trail without knowing (or parents knowing) that this danger is ahead. PLEASE be careful and wear good shoes. If you do make it down to the beach, you will be rewarded with a pristine beach and hardly anybody else down there (unless some creep over at low tide from north Cannon Beach). There are caves and tidepools to explore.
