“Slammed but efficient”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2014

The whole town and beach were slammed on a foggy day. We just arrived in town after a 4 hour drive. Lucked out with a parking spot being very skilled at parallel in tight spots. Place was packed seat yourself and a gentleman walked out and told us of a couple empty tables in the back. The 4 of us sat next to the window to the holding tanks. A young man greeted us and took our drink orders then there was a 10 person waiting line. I had the cider, delicious, the rest tried the local brews and were very satisfied except the pregnant one with water and lemon. He took our orders without notes and no errors made. Pub fare with a humus tray that was excellent.
One more pint each and we left very satisfied. They have a sister pub a few miles south, not so crowded, way more relaxing as was the service.

“Wonderful to sit outside”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2014

great beer, and pretty good menu. My favorite thing about this place is that you can sit outside and people watch on main street in Cannon Beach. Dark inside though.

“Choose your timing and pick your battles”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2014

Bill's is in the heart of Cannon Beach with a few attractive street front tables. Inside, it has an adults-only section to the right and a child-friendly side on the left. On a given summer day it gets slammed, And when it gets slammed, some of the waitstaff get surly.

You don't want surly waitstaff. Yelling at your kid to get out the door because she came in with the remainder of her ice cream cone from the Picnic Table down the street. Yelling at people who wait on the wrong side of the door even though this is one of the last places in Oregon to do "kids side, adults side" since Pietro's Pizza. Bill's simply gets overwhelmed in the tourist season and, too often, they let their stress show. I think they figure most people will only be in once and then go back to Pocatello.

We've been coming here for nearly 20 years. It's great when you catch it quiet mid afternoon or in the winter. Food is decent; beer not-so-much. I like the curried tuna sandwich and their clam chowder. But I have learned to choose my visits very carefully when Cannon Beach is crowded. Bill's crumples under the pressure in a way other places in CB (Driftwood, Ecola Seafood) don't.

“Just try a beer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2014

They make their own beer and it's worth a taste. Didn't eat here, but it was packed, so I think that people like the food. Typical bar and grill food...hamburgers and of course Clam Chowder!

“Fun, casual”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2014

All 4 of us enjoyed the halibut fish n chips. Nice front patio, great house made brews. I had a delightful blackberry Ale, a wheat ale, not too sweet with just a hint of berry. They had 8+ beers to choose from that are their local micro brews.
