“Breathtaking!”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

This was a 3-day October weekend getaway for my boyfriend’s birthday. We had a Beachfront King Room, & there is no other way to go! Simply breathtaking as you walk in the room for the first time and look out over the sand, ocean and Haystack Rock! It was our first trip to Cannon Beach and I will be back as often as I can. I ordered balloons, confetti, and chocolate covered strawberries to be in the room upon arrival and that too was spectacular. He was super surprised and very happy. He even got to watch the Seahawks play on TV Sunday morning in bed!!!!!! Customer service is excellent; they will even build a bonfire for you on the beach if you so wish . . . fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and ice cold milk when you check in . . . You simply cannot beat this location. The town is quaint and just a lot of fun. We had a great time! EXCELLENT Sunset!

This was really a lovely experience! Nice room, not large but fine for 2. We thought the bed was really comfortable. Great balcony with view. Had a fridge and glasses, so do bring drinks and snacks if you can. Great to watch the sunset and have a cocktail! We didn't realize we could still have a bonfire made for us but several grps did and it was cool to see (we were at dinner so missed the timing any way).
The internet in the room was fast and easy, but no password so not at all protected. And the balconies are nice but you do see your neighbors if they are out. A little awkward but manageable. They dont' own a restaurant but the Wayfarer is next door. It, the Stephanie Inn dining room and the Lumberjack have a connection as those restaurants can bill your room if you give them a card you get at check in.
Great location to roam the beach, explore Haystack rock area and not too far a walk or easy drive into town.We also used the jacuzzi, open til midnight, and had it and the pool to ourselves. Patio of Driftwood is nice and gets sun. Enjoy!

Room Tip: not first floor.

Happy to hear you enjoyed the lovely views from your balcony and the sunset! Actually the Wayfarer Restaurant next door is our sister property and they also do exceptional room service. We look forward to having you stay with us again soon!

You can't beat the location of the Surfsand Resort. It is right on the beach with beautiful views of Haystack Rock and Ecola State Park. The rooms are modern and clean but charming and cozy. The fireplace in each room is also an added benefit. I will say the prices are very high for this property. Cannon Beach is not Cannes, France and you pay top dollar to stay here unless you walk in and they give you a deal in the winter season. The fitness center is adequate. If you can afford it, stay here.

Room Tip: Beachfront all the way!

We stayed on an ocean from suite with our two sons. The separate bedroom was great (they had sofa bed and crib in living room). Great views of the ocean from the balcony and easy access to beach - without having to cross a road or parking lot. The evening bonfires were also great.

The front desk staff was very helpful, the room staff a little less so - it took three calls to get the extra bedding for a crib delivered. The pool was nice for the kids when it was raining.

It is relatively expensive for what you get (at least at the time of year we booked) and as other reviewers have noted, there are "motel" aspects to the place. But all that said, we had a great stay and felt well looked after.

We’re so happy you and your family had such a wonderful time staying with us! The bonfires are a wonderful thing here at our Resort. I’m sorry about how long it took to get the extra bedding for the crib we strive to get things to our guest as soon as possible. We look forward to seeing you in the future!

Stayed in the retreat rooms, 3rd floor. Rooms well appointed, clean, quiet, nice view of the rock. Staff courteous. Beds comfortable. The restaurant was good - drinks overpriced - but to be expected in resort area. + Our favorite place in Cannon Beach.

Checked in and the staff at the front deck could not have been more insulting with coments re: dress for dinner, and what I was wearing. when I travel I dress quite casual, she looked me up and down. My first thought was who the hell are you? This place is run by a bunch of kids that think they are working at a 5 star resort, which by the way it's just a motel! I was told that for dinner we would have a window table to enjoy the view for my birthday dinner, so made no other res. for dinner. Got to dinner and we were place as far from the windows as you could get! This is the most cold unhappy place I'v ever been to. Don't go.

Room Tip: Look for another place, they price the rooms on the wemm!

The Surfsand Resort is absolutely amazing! After traveling 1800 miles over 4 days and seeing beautiful sights (from Phoenix to Cannon Beach), our final destination was Surfsand Resort. We couldn't have picked a better location to end our epic journey at! The beach is breathtaking, and the hotel is so clean and charming. We booked the romance package, and while it was a little pricier than it should have been, it was still great (for almost $200, I wish we could've at least kept the robes!). With the package, we had rose petals on the bed, a bath bomb, candle & beach glass & shells by the soaking tub, delicious champagne & chocolate covered strawberries. It was so nice to arrive and have chilled champagne to sip on. We spent 2 nights, and we are already planning another cross country trip that will end in Cannon Beach. This time, we plan to stay 4 nights. The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. We purchased a bonfire on our last night, and had a very nice time. The s'mores package had way too much in it for just 2 people, but it was a fun experience.

The room was perfect. We stayed in a Beachfront Suite. I loved the separation of the bedroom & living room. We had a fire going at almost all times in the living room. The tub was amazing! We couldn't get the tv to work in the bathroom, but really, who needs that anyway??? The only issue I had was the bed. I have back issues, and I couldn't get comfortable in the bed. This is not to say that the bed wasn't great...my husband absolutely LOVED it, and I'm sure I would've as well had I not been experiencing back pain. It's a tempur-pedic, so you sink into the mattress. I need to toss & turn at night, and it took too much energy to lift myself up and roll over. The balcony was nice, but it was too cold for us to sit out and really enjoy it (we live in Tampa, not used to 60 degree temps!).

The town is also very charming. There's plenty of places to eat, we did try out the Wayfarer Restaurant on property, but probably won't go back again. There's too many other places to try out.

One weird thing we noticed, the beach had an awful lot of dead birds on it. We mentioned it to the man that set up our bonfire, and he seemed mystified as to why there were so many dead birds. We speculated that they might've been diving & hit some rocks, but it was strange that the local didn't have an explanation & seemed surprised by it himself.

All in all, this was the best trip we've ever taken, and the highlight was this amazing resort. Can't wait to go back!!!
