“Cute hotel, great price.”
Reviewed 25 June 2014 via mobile

Found this hotel as a cheap alternative to staying closer to Crater Lake. The staff was friendly and we got a great deal. Cozy office lounge with free coffee and hot cocoa. DVDs to watch as well. The rooms were small but clean and the bed was comfortable. The only complaint I have is that its right on rt 97, we had the room closet to the road so it was a little noisy. It probably didn't help that the hotel is across from a truck stop but that's also a nice thing. We arrived late so it was convenient to run across the street for late night snacks.

We stayed at Dawson House Lodge on our way to Crater Lake. We were able to drop off our luggage earlier than the check in time, which was really nice. The woman that checked us in gave us a brief run down of the room and was very nice and friendly. We felt welcomed to make any needs known. The room was clean, though the furnishings could certainly use some updating. Think more... older bed and breakfast instead of motel room. It was quite noisy being right next to hwy 97 and we could easily hear our neighbors and anything happening in the parking lot. For the price, it is an excellent place to stay, though I don't feel compelled to stay here next time we are in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for a room furthest away from Hwy 97 to decrease some noise.

I'll have to add to the rave reviews here. It's old, it's interesting because it's old, creaky, and solid at the same time. My only gripe at all is that Room 1 is a bit near the road and a touch noisy, so if you are sensitive, ask for some other room. Me? I sleep like a rock, no problem. The price was good, the checkin and checkout were simple, and the restaurant info was handy. It's kind of grandma-like in the rooms, so what, it's comfortable and nice. You do have to start the hot water and wait a while for it to find Room 1's shower, though.

Note: Service here means check-in and check-out. There are no "services" but it has a huge dish network channel list (does somebody, anybody, now how to USE this???), and they offer DVD's from the front desk for the DVD player. Internet is solid, but slow.

Don't let the look of the place take you off guard. It is a old building but with character. The room was nice and clean. Had two beds and a good bathroom. We were on our way to Crater Lake, well this is the place to stay for the night. Everything you would need for one night is here. It is not on a quiet location, but close to the park so we didn't bother. We received a kind reception. Subway across the road for any quick snack, not much else in Chemult.

I stayed in room #2 and did not experience the "sour aroma" that many other reviewers noted. The motel is a mix of new and shabby furnishings. New: curtains, carpet, mirror, and decor pillows. Shabby: tile counter, brass light fixtures, bed pillows. No A/C, but the fans were plenty adequate in September. Fridge and DVD player in the room. One other nice bonus: DVD library free to borrow at the front desk. Pilot Truck Stop across the street and Crater Lake about half hour away. If you're on a budget, you could do a lot worse than Dawson House Lodge.

The welcome was kind and efficient. The lady took us to the room to ensure that Things were OK..
Did your grandparents ever have a guest room? Then it might have looked like the one we had in Dawson House Lodge. Funny old furniture and quaint pictures on all the walls. Not very big and not that comfortable, but a funny and different experience along a minor highway off the beaten interstate tracks.
Breakfast is not served here, but we trotted across the highway (=main street) to KJ'S Cafe, where we had excellent food like at dinnertime the night before.
This is not Route 66. But you sure get a '66 feel' when staying here in Chemult,

We stayed one night in the Rose Room on the way to Crater Lake National Park. There's not much choice in lodging or food in this area and most of the time the lodge in the park is booked up and also very expensive. Our stay was okay, a large room with jacuzzi tub. The owner was very nice.
