“accessible shower floods bathroom”
Reviewed 21 November 2010

I stayed at the Super 8 for the second time. The first time I was in an upper room. The facility has been remodeled and the rooms are super-cute. The rooms look and feel like a nice hotel rather than a budget motel.

This time we were placed on the end which is only one level and is situated right where the two roads lanes come together (if you are checking in you will know what I mean). Whatever you do, make SURE you are on the second floor. If you can't do that, at least make sure you aren't down on the end where the traffic breaks around it like the bow of a ship. The traffic noise did die down at 11 and didn't pick up again until 5:30.

In the morning when I took a shower I noticed that there was no lip between the floor of the shower and the rest of the bathroom. I know now that it was an accessible room so the shower was roll-in. That's great but they didn't bank the floor toward the drain so the entire bathroom flooded and I had to put towels against the door to keep the water from flooding out into the room!

The traffic noise was my fault; I picked the hotel. The water wasn't the clerk's fault; she didn't do the tile work (I assume). But both of the clerks were almost robotic. I understand that they are probably paid minimum wage to deal with cheap travelers all day but a smile probably wouldn't kill them.

I didn't complain to the front deskr; instead I will contact the management about the water and chalk the traffic noise/zombie clerk up as a learning experience.

So to sum it up
room was cute and clean
noise is high in lower units
the clerks this time not as friendly as in January
breakfast very bare bones

Situated between the North and South bound 101 the hotel does not look the greatest. Room had a window that looked out into the car park but thankfully not onto 101.

Provided with vouchers at check-in for grill and bar doen the street - despite appearances this was an excellent place to eat with great food and some of the friendliest staff ever; throwing your peanut shells on the floor somehow seemed OK!

Breakfast & coffee was OK

I couldn't believe this hotel had no A/C. There was a comfort control dial on the wall which did not work. Therefore, we had to open the window as the room was stuffy, small and uncomfortable. It was advertised as having 2 queens when actually there are 2 double beds!!. This hotel has 2 busy streets running very close and on both sides of it which made it difficult to sleep due to the traffic noise. It is very disconcerting to hear police sirens while you are taking a shower!! They have updated this older, aging hotel by adding flat screen TV, microwave, refrigerator, & WiFi, but you are paying too much for a stay in a old hotel.

The first thing we noticed is that the desk clerk said she couldn't honor the $49.99 price for the guy ahead of us because there was "an event" in town. We paid nearly twice that going through Priceline. Gr-r-r-r-r.

Room was clean-ish, but basic and cheap...it looked good, but don't look too closely. It was also not super quiet, but no more noisy than other 2-star motels. It wasn't a bad place, but it didn't stand out as being "the" place to choose.

The free Wi-Fi worked well, but breakfast was too short (ends at 9 A.M.) and VERY skimpy...the only protein was hard-boiled eggs.

When you check in, you get a couple of cards worth a free appetizer or dessert (one card per visit) in the restaurant right next door. We went, and the food there is decent and plentiful, and a bit overpriced. It was VERY busy, which I consider a good sign...if the locals like it, how bad can it be?

What can I say? The place is a Super 8, and you get what you expect from a Super 8...namely a clean place to sleep with a few standard amenities. They did have decent coffee in the room. If you're in Coos Bay, you don't have to feel that you must avoid it...just don't go there when there's an event in town if you want the $49.99 price advertised on the big sign as you enter town.

We had a reservation here before we arrived but didnt really know what to expect.. we were pleasantly surprised.. they offered us cookies when we checked in (they were really good) and gave us a room on the second floor.. although we didnt have much of a view the room was clean and quite spacious and had all the amenities (microwave, fridge, hair dryer and iron).. it was pretty clear that they recently remodelled the place..the rooms looked fresh.. they also served a decent breakfast..

We were very pleased with the room. We arrived late, so didn't want to spend a lot, saw a billboard that said $49.99, and when we checked in, that was the price we paid. Staff were very kind and helpful. Nice flatscreen TV, microwave/fridge, nice showerhead, and working ice machine. Breakfast in the morning also. good wireless service

I booked based on Tripadvisor reviews and was not disappointed. Everything was great. I hope the rest of our trip goes as well.
The room was updated, very clean, and adequately sized. I was pleasantly surprised by the adjoining Rodeo restaurant and by the biscuits and gravy for breakfast.
