Upon checking in, we were shown our reserved room with a partial oceanview and also shown an oceanview and given the option of either--the oceanview room at a discount, which we took. After two days, we were offered to stay another night at a discount rate. The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. Our oceanfront room with fireplace and deck with hot tub had a great view of the channel leading into "The World's Smallest Harbor." The nice breakfast room also had an ocean view. We spotted six whale spouts even in the least busy whale watching month. The boats in and out of the channel were enjoyable. Terrific oceanview restaurants and shops are within walking distance and excellent.

Room Tip: Inquire if there are any other available rooms.

Stayed here a few times over the years and never dissapointed! Spend the extra money and get a suite! hot tub overlooking the ocean and the bay is fantastic! Tempur pedic beds are awesome too! Breakfast in the morning alos overlooks the ocean. Dinner at the Sea Hag with Micheal Dane singing is a short walk away.

Kyle was the "Host with the Most!" Weather was fantastic!

What a gem! Unpretentious, cozy getaway at entrance to world's smallest navigable harbor. Listen to Pacific surf through open window, gaze at sunsets from private jacuzzi, watch for gray whales from same. Emerge briefly for haute cuisine at Restaurant Beck 2 miles south at sister property Whale Cove Inn. You'll be hooked.

We stayed for one night and it was absolutely wonderful. Cookies waiting beside the bed for us, dressing gowns to wear and hot tub at night, listening to the waves, drinking a bottle of wine. What more could you ask for?
Breakfast in the morning was disappointing as all they seemed to serve were desserts (I have a sweet tooth but not an American sweet tooth!).
Tried to eat dinner at Tidal Waves restaurant but hour and half wait so we went to the Mexican right by the Channel House-ok but nothing special!
Wondeful, romantic night!

We stayed there on July 28th 2011. We did not make reservations but stopped in to see about vacancies. Since it was already late in the day and they had multiple rooms available we got the winter rate. We stayed in a top floor suite for just over $200. It was beautiful!!! The sun set over the ocean right outside our window and despite the very cold wind blowing in we got in the "hot tub" (not really a hot tub just a bath tub with jets, water eventually loses heat) on our patio. Slept great! At about 7am the boat harbor next door started bustling and sleeping through it was not an option. We live near a train and can sleep through it's constant whistles but the fog horns on these boats where a whole different thing for us. Despite the early wake up we thought this place was great and would stay there again. We actually want to save up and take the whole family to stay at their nicer/ pricier sister hotel Whale Cove Inn.

I have stayed at the Channel House's "Allyn House" many times over the past several years. I have also stayed at the Whale Cove Inn. While both operations are top-notch and get high praise from me, I prefer the low-key seclusion of one of the four Allyn House accommodations, all of which I have stayed in on at least one occasion. My most recent stay was in the Galley, a great place to stay for a few days. It even has a full kitchen stocked with dishes, silverware and cooking utensils! A two minute walk to the Channel House for an excellent breakfast spread or stay in the Galley and cook your own. Either way, you can't go wrong.
