“Romantic and relaxing!”
Reviewed 2 April 2006

This Inn is as advertised: cozy, romantic, well-appointed, spotlessly clean, and so unique! We were enchanted immediately. We stayed in the Captain's Quarters (Room #2), which has the most private deck for hot tubbing. We were able to sit in the hot tub and watch for whales, and watch fishing boats and Coast Guard cutters going in and out of the little channel. We fell asleep to the continuous soothing sound of waves on the rocks below--very nice. The breakfast room downstairs is wonderful--well appointed and cozy, and you can sit at a table overlooking the ocean all by yourselves (you are not forced to socialize as at many B & Bs). The breakfast was delightful, varied, and extensive. The staff are friendly and responsive.
If you are looking for a truly relaxing time and don't feel compelled to step out onto a sandy beach, this is the place for you! It is no accident that so many who stay here are honeymooners. We've been married 40 years and wish we'd found it sooner.

My husband and I stayed in one of the suites and woke up the next morning to ants in the kitchen and living room. We reported it to the front desk the next morning but to our knowledge nothing was done while we were there. Upon returning home we discovered ants in our bathroom from our travel bag. The Inn has acknowledged the problem but refuses to offer any type of reimbursement. Although the Inn has beautiful views, an establishment of this caliber should not have an insect problem.

We recently spent 3 nights in this great Inn by the "world's smallest inlet bay". Everything was as described on the website and by other TripAdvisor users. We stayed in the Cuckoo's Nest, the Inn's most expensive suite. It was well worth the money. A large Jacuzzi on a very long deck that was accessible from both the bedroom and living room. The views from the deck were wonderful; helped tremendously by the great weather we had while there. We saw whales right off the coast from the deck (40 or 50 yards from the rocks) every morning and early evening except for one. That is probably closer than you will get on a whale watching boat trip. The suite had a full kitchen, but we only used it to make coffee in the room each morning, and to store our wine, cheese and other snacks. The Jacuzzi was great, the sounds and smells from the ocean are wonderful, the sunsets are unbelievable, the breakfast was very tasty, and the Inn was very neat and clean. I would highly recommend the Channel House. I have stayed in B&B's all over the country, and this is one of the best experiences that I have had. Book the Cuckoo's Nest and you'll see what I mean.

Eating recommendations while there...Oceanus & Tidal Raves are very close and have wonderful food. Saphron Salmon is on the bay in Newport, and also has wonderful food.

My wife and I just returned from 3 nights at the Channel House (a belated anniversary escape...we had to postpone it due to a family emergency, and they were wonderfully understanding & accomodating about our late-notice changes)...and we had a wonderful time. We stayed in the lowest level, corner room (The Fore Deck, all the rooms have natuical names/themes) which had a great view of the crashing surf hitting the Bay breakwall (very nice from the outdoor Jacuzzi...even in the poring wind & rain!). It had a lovely gas fireplace & this particular room has a flat screen TV with DVD player (great for wintertime...probably not so importnat in warmer months)! They also have a nice library of DVD's that you can borrow. The room & bathroom were a bit smaller than we thought, but that wasn't a deal breaker. And all the beds have Tempur-Pedic mattresses!! A HUGE plus for us (my wife brings a "travel size" Tempur-Pedic pad with her whenever she travels...she was nearly in tears of joy to discover that she didn't have to use it on this trip!).

The breakfast is very nice (with a very sweet, attentive hostess) in a comfortable, bright room. There are some good restaurants within walking distance (in warmer weather...we drove), and even better ones a bit further away (the Blackfish Cafe in Lincoln City and the new Saffron Salmon in Newport are our picks...the Bay House in Lincoln City has a great wine list, but is otherwise very disappointing).
The staff were all great...we'll definitely return again--hopefully in the summer!
(I'm not a B&B type of person...but this place was really a great balance between the homeiness/coziness of a B&B and the privacy and service of a hotel)

My husband and I have been to the Channel House twice now, once for our honeymoon and once "just because." This place is a true GEM, its a spectacular gift. The rooms are well done, simple, but great. Every room has a terrific view of the Ocean. There is also a jacuzzi tub outside on the deck for you to sit, soak, relax, and listen to the waves crash against the rocks below. The breakfast is delightful, very cozy atmosphere in the breakfast suite. The staff is amazing, and will do just about anything you need them to do. There are several wonderful places to eat nearby, the staff will make a reservation for you if you need it. I encourage a visit ASAP!

We spent two wonderful nights here and cannot say enough about the service and wonderful rooms! We had an ocean front room with a spa tub on the deck. The views of the ocean, stars and whales were spectacular. An added plus-the fabulous breakfasts!

We visited the Channel House a couple of years ago for our 20th anniversary. The highlight of our stay was sitting in the spa on our private deck watching a lightening storm and listening to the fog horn. What an experience. We are saving right now so that we can spend our next anniversary there! IT was spectacular....If you are not a romantic...visit here and the romance bug will bite!
