“Great chowder!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2014 via mobile

The wife and I came in and ordered two bread bowls- the cannon bowl- with chowder. The red-haired gal who took our order was nice enough, but maybe a little flighty? It took 10mins our drinks and around 20mins to get two bowls of chowder and they weren't really all that busy. But we love the chowder so, we'll keep coming back.

“Don't even bother”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2014

This place had the worst fish and chips we have EVER had. I'm pretty sure they weren't fresh either because they were really hard and chewy although that could be because of the way they were cooked. They were fried but there wasn't even any batter or breading on them. The chowder was awful too. It was more like a clam gravy than a soup and it was really heavy on the flour and had a strong flour taste to it as well. The fries were old, cold, and really greasy. I would recommend finding somewhere else to go, especially if you are hoping for quality seafood.

“Worth the wait time”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014

This is a small, charming, friendly place with excellent food and service. The name tells the customer what to order. The chowder is the best on the coast. Portions are large. The calamari was excellent with different sauces than one usually gets with this appetizer and are recommended. A 20 minute wait was well worth it and while waiting there is lots to see and good shopping in the immediate area to keep one entertained.

“Disappointing ”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2014 via mobile

The food was so disappointing! Should have left when we found out they had no craft beer but decided to try anyway based on the other reviews. Had crab and shrimp melts, not good. No seasoning, full of mayo and american cheese. Coleslaw was gross, even the chicken strip were marginal. Felt ripped off after we paid the fairly large tab, don't eat here!

“Great Chowder - at a Great Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

We arrived in Depoe Bay on our first visit, and my sister said she had seen the sign while driving through the first time. We came back, and voila - a parking spot awaited us right in front of the building! We hustled inside (much to our deight we found they had bathrooms, since we had been holding it awhile...needless to say, a lot of places in Depoe Bay don't have "public restrooms". Partly, I can understand). It was 11 o'clock, on the dot, and we had a our choice of seating since it wasn't yet crowded (Which it does get!).
I originally ordered the clam chowder in a cannonbowl (sourdough bowl). But unfortunately they were out of the cannonbowl. The waitress suggested it with garlic bread and we took her up on her offer. It was delicious! Definitely not the BEST bowl of clam chowder, but it was delicious and packed full with lots o' clams! The décor is fun, and the rest of the food going by our table looked delicious as well. Decently priced, and a great location amongst the many little shops, and across the street from the Whale Watching Center. I would definitely recommend you stop in! However, as said, it does get crowded by about 12:30 - or it did while we were there!
