We have stayed at the Surfrider annually for the last five years, and always been impressed. The rooms are cozy, clean, and have sensational views. We actually enjoy this place so much that we decided to get married at their location. Steve and Mary (the managers) were very hospitable, and even agreed to be our witnesses. Great value and we will be back soon.

We stayed in the top floor. We had a room with a sliding glass door and private balcony, room 23. They informed us that the building was set back further from the ocean than the other buildings. It was only set back a bit. We had a commanding view of ocean. It was a queen room with fridge, microwave, gas fireplace and coffee maker. The staff was friendly and helpful. Everything was great. Even the in-room coffee maker made good coffee. The restaurant had a surprisingly large menu, great, fresh seafood. We'd highly recommend The Surfrider.

Compared to the other possible accommodations, this place has them beat in every category, and has an unbeatable view of the ocean. We stayed in the adult building but the other buildings looked to be as well situated. Make sure you get the view.

Our room at the Surfrider was on the bottom floor, the view was incredible and we had small patio access where we were able to watch the sunset. The only real con which was a big one for me, was the noise coming from the upstairs. It eventually lessened as the night went on but sure enough at about 8 am you could literally hear everything going on upstairs, the toilets flushing, the shower, drawers opening. I would stay here again but would ensure that I get a top floor room. You also have to go down LOTS of stairs to get to the beach, where you have to almost jump once you're there, since there's no nice, transitional, leveled edge. Being that I'm 6 months pregnant, this felt a bit dangerous. Overall, I'd stay here again and would recommend for those on a budget.

Dear Valued guests,

Besides the main beach access with 96 steps, there's a natural trail with few flight of steps and sand to the beach which is much easier to access. I'm sorry that our front desk agent has neglected to mention this additional passage for your benefit. Also, you can drive right off the highway 101 north in just tiny bit of distance to the fogarty creek state park north entrance and head to beach easily without climbing any steps.

I'm sorry about the noise passing down from the room above you. It is a disadvantage for being on the bottom floor guest sometimes when your upstair neighbor is being quite active. Our management has taken in consideration to replace carpet and implement extra padding to reduce the impact in the future when the right time comes.

Thank you for your understanding and look forward to seeing you again.

Some reviews have been a bit sniffy about the Surfrider Resort, claiming that it's not a resort, no better than a regular hotel. Glad to report that we had a really nice stay. It's nowhere near Depoe Bay (which is quite a good thing!) but on a hill to the North of town which assures lovely sea views from the room and restaurant. We reserved an upgraded spa room in the fourth block (which seemed to be the newest block of rooms?) The views were fantastic and there was a seating area with a loveseat set so you could admire the sea views as well as a balcony with chairs to sit out. There was a well equipped kitchenette and the jacuzzi -tub bathroom was generously sized. Although breakfast was not included (there's a supermarket minutes up the road for pastries and cereals), we did use the restaurant for dinner and there was a good choice of meals at reasonable prices (service was very friendly despite the restaurant being pretty busy).

My husband and I were traveling down the NW coast of Oregon. We left 2 nights unbooked as we weren't sure where we would end up. So on a busy July Fri afternoon,
I booked into Surfrider for that night. I was a bit surprised they had some vacancies, and with a AAA rate just above $100, prepared for a mediocre room. But surprise ! Here is what we got: very charming and helpful service at check-in, a 2nd floor (no one above you) king bedroom with fireplace on the seaside of building 2, fridge/ microwave/big TV and an INCREDIBLE view of the ocean with balcony ! We were thrilled. I'm pretty certain this must be one of the renovated rooms - it was really big - room to eat at a small table, and sofa too - with great colors, and a supremely comfortable bed. We had dinner overlooking the view for both nights. The shower / toilet room was a tad tired, but as long as a place is clean ( and the room was spotless ) that stuff just doesn't bother us. We didn't eat there, but that ammenity is available. After the high prices for a sea view in Cannon Beach, we were blown away, and just really, really loved this place.

My husband and 2 young children spent 3 nights at the Surfrider, upon recommendation from a friend. We stayed in room 28, a one bedroom with a kitchenette and a murphy bed in the livingroom. The housekeeping staff were excellent....they even folded my daughter's pj's at the end of the bed for us! The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, silverware, towels, ect. I don't care about WIFI connection, so that wasn't a problem for me. The cable worked great the whole time we were there and the DVD player in the room was a plus! Yes, the main stairway to the beach is a bit sketchy, but the back way, around the main building worked great. We went down the back way and up the main way, where the bottom step is a huge step. Going up was much better on that way. Waking up to the beautiful ocean view was amazing! The pool and building shows a bit of wear and tear and could use some TLC, but the temp of the pool and hottub were great. My girls had a great time in the pool. One downside that disappointmented me was that because they have an on site restaurant, they do not have any continental breakfast. But now that I know that, I can be better prepared. Also, we discovered, part way through our stay, was that a previous guest had snuck a cat into the room, as there was urine smell in a part of the room. We told the hotel staff about it and they were very gracious and appologetic. However, We will be returning customers for sure!
