“Ended up staying a 2nd night!”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

We had already spent one week of vacation planned out and when the other half of our party left, we headed South for wine country with not a plan in sight. Had a vineyard, the week prior, recommend this Inn. We owe her a huge thanks. Stopped in to see if they had availability and we got lucky. It was so comfortable, we asked to stay another day. Loved the bed, shower was huge w great shower head, and more importantly, it was quiet, stylish and the staff was extremely accommodating. Several tasting rooms, a very large bar & restaurant on site, which we did not use except for breakfast. They grow their own veggies and raise chickens for a fresh from the farm menu. Coffee, however, needs a major fix for stronger, robust flavor. As for location, it doesn't get any better for the Dundee Hills winery trails. A nice treat and we'll worth the convenience.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room on the back side of the hotel.... Rt 99 is busy early AM. They were just...

We rented two rooms there when we visited with the kids. A double-queen bed room on the highway side for the kids and a king-size bedroom on the parking side with a good view on the adjacent wineries.

All in all, this is a great cozy place to stay to roam from to several wineries in the Dundee Hills, Ribbon Ridge and Yamhill-Carlton areas. You never have to travel more than 15-20 minutes from wineries to wineries to the hotel. Moreover, the staff can provide special tickets to some wineries and such. Plus, they can guide you to some of their favorite, unaffiliated, wineries.

The reservation and registration were perfect. The attentive staff is relaxed and very helpful.

If the noise from the highway is a concern, ask for a room on the parking side. We slept the windows open in mid-july to benefit from the fresh Oregon air and yet, the highway traffic did not bother us at all. The rooms are very clean, the bathroom are spacious, the furnishings provide a countryside charm and overall, the rooms provide just enough of the upscale necessities/luxuries to make it feel like a very special stay.

The restaurant Babica Hen Café is just downstairs where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner or a glass of wine with small appetizers on their enclosed terrasse. Wonderful !

We will be back. That's for sure.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the parking side and open the windows at night.

We returned to the Inn at Red Hills for the third time in as many years. It has never seemed to be a good value, but the location is good and there aren't many options. We've always found the rooms clean, the beds comfortable, and the staff helpful, There is the noise issue--we don't have a problem with rooms on the highway side, but if you are noise sensitive better to book on the backside. And finally there is a restaurant downstairs that is a good option for the area. One shortcoming- we'd happily trade some of the dozen pillows for a small refrigerator. Seems like a reasonable expectation at this price level, and in wine country.

Room Tip: Be aware of traffic noise.

Dear Wilbron,
Thank you for your recent stay with us! We appreciate your long term support of the Inn, and we are thankful for your feedback.
Adding refrigerators to the rooms is something we are now seriously considering so hopefully they will be in place for your next visit. We would look forward to seeing you again in the future, and always want you to be as comfortable as possible.

Thank you,

My husband and I stayed there one weekday night during our trip to the wineries. The hotel is nice but not worth the $100/night premium paid to be in town. I can't find the value in paying that much more instead of staying in McMinnville or Newberg.

Rooms are nice and featured a huge shower and sleep number bed. We didn't care for the bed, we both couldn't figure out the best setting for us and woke up multiple times a night uncomfortable, each time adjusting firmness. Shower and bathroom is my favorite. One suggestion is to have a shower as a rain shower or multi faucet shower. Room faced mountains so it was a nice view and relatively quiet. Coffee maker not in room. Bottle of wine in room is $35.

Hotel doesn't have a pool, room service, spa, or a gym. If it did, it was not advertised.

The town has a 6 tasting rooms and 2 wineries. The hotel has four tasting rooms, but they close at 5 along with all the other wineries. If wineries were open later, opened later for just hotel guests, or offered complimentary tasting for hotel guests I would be more inclined to stay here again.

Even though hotel is in town, the half mile walk along the two lane highway to Ponzi Bistro, Red Hills cafe, Argyle, and Tina's is quite scary since there aren't any sidewalks until you get closer to Tina's. Not the hotels fault, but would be happier for the price paid for the convenience of a safer walk.

The cafe at the hotel has an amazing breakfast. Again, hotel guests don't receive anything special there either (even complimentary coffee or mimosa would be nice).

I would have been happier to pay $125/night for this hotel considering the amenities available.

Dear Lindsey B,
Thank you for staying with us! We appreciate your feedback and are glad you enjoyed the room. We are conveniently located central to not only the wineries and tasting rooms in the Dundee proper but also in the neighboring towns as well. There is no shortage of great tasting rooms and wineries to explore. Each of the four tasting rooms on our property is fabulous so hopefully you had a chance to visit them.
We agree that the pedestrian environment in town is not the best, and the overall community agrees as well. As a result, a sidewalk and main thoroughfare rehabilitation project is taking place this upcoming year that will greatly enhance the walkability of the area. We hope you will come back and see the difference! Thank you for staying with us and for visiting beautiful Oregon wine country, and it would be our pleasure to welcome you back in the future.

The hotel has a modern design. The rooms are very spacious, lots of large windows, comfy bed and pillows. The same price or even less expensive than local B&Bs, with better accommodations in huge rooms and bathrooms. Anthony at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Restaurant serves incredible food and delivers room service if requested. We will stay here again. Be sure to ask for a room on the non-highway side of the building. We slept with the windows open, so highway noise was not a problem on the west side of the building.

A friend and I just returned from a trip to Willamette and stayed at the Inn at Red Hills.

The Pros:
1. The room was spacious and comfortable.
2. The bed was comfortable, though I didn't play much with the controls.
3. The hotel was centrally located and easily accessible to all areas

The Cons:
1. The hotel is directly off a main highway/route and there's definitely noise. While the hotel will tell you the noise dies down around 8 pm, they fail to mention that it starts back up around 4:30-5AM. We asked to switch to the non-highway side of the hotel when we arrived, but all of their 2-queen bed rooms are on the highway side.
2. We found several long hairs on the shower wall and men's beard shavings all over the vanity in the bathroom. We told them about it the next morning, and came back to a still not properly cleaned bathroom.
3. As a coffee drinker, I've become accustomed to having an in-room coffee maker when I stay in hotels. They don't have that, but serve coffee at 6:30AM on the landing. No sweeteners were offered and it tasted burnt at 7 AM.

This was, by far, the second worst hotel experience of our lives. #1 checked in at 3:15 p.m. While my husband went down for the bags I went to tv for news. I picked up the channel guide only to get dripping coffee on my clothes, there was no "what's playing" channel on the televisin. While I was fussing with it, in walks the maid with towels, without knocking first, saying "oh I didn't know anyone had checked in, I'm leaving these towels and will be back with a washcloth" The desk attendant came by with the wine tasting tickets - I offered her the wet channel guide which she took without comment returning it later washed off. I then asked her about dining in the area as their information book only listed restaurants without mention of cuisine type or menus. She handed us a "walk about Dundee map" and left. Should I mention there was already one of these in the room. And then there's the construction noise of drills, etc. below us. We phoned down and were told there was construction going on for a new wine bar downstairs and it should stop at 5:00 p.m. There went the nap (this after stressful morning of tests at VA hospital in OR) and no mention of reducing the room rate due to the inconvenience - of course we weren't told during phone reservation this was going on or we would not have made the reservation in the first place. Bath sink wouldn't drain, toilet handle, not the original, too small, installed wrong and extremely hard to flush. My husband went down to ask about possible coffee shop in area and while he was inquiring phone rang. Amanda took the call and continued with it without putting caller on hold to finish conversation with my husband. There are no amenities at this hotel other than they leave a $47 bottle of wine in room you may purchase. Water $5/bottle. The staff is rude, not knowledgeable and could care less for guest comforts. Maybe after wine tours everyone else is to imbibed to notice these things, we however weren't. Overpriced bed in a wine bar. Never, never, never again. Wow, they do leave a carafe of coffee on a table near the elevator in the morning if you want to dress first and get it yourself. Horrible experience, horrible. The carpeting everywhere looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in a couple of days.

Room Tip: go elsewhere
