If you're like me you'll be wondering the entire trip, is this really the way to Lange Winery. Its located down a long dirt road with a few twists and turns but eventually you arrive as intended. The tasting room is small and modest but nice. The staff is very friendly, helpful and quite knowledgable.

We tasted several wines and enjoyed them all. The tasting room overlooks the Dundee Hills and has a lovely view of the area. Nice spot but I'm not sure it was worth the drive.

We met Jesse Lange at a winemakers dinner in our area earlier in 2012. Jesse was kind enough to follow up with us and invite us to a private tour and tasting at Lange Winery over Labor Day weekend because we were visiting the area. Shani was our guide for the day. She was knowledgeable and took us through their beautiful vineyards, the production facilities, and a flight of private tastings. The experience was exceptional. I recommend a visit to Lange Winery to anyone interested in meeting some great people and sampling some of the great Pinot Noir Williamette Valley and Lange have to offer.

The wine was great. The wine hostess was really nice. And just a lovely view from up there. Treat yourself and go up for a taste.

The folks at Lange seemed like we were a bother to them when we stopped in on Saturday morning of the Labor Day weekend.

Great Pinot, for sure. Expect a fairly long gravel road drive wondering if you are lost or just moving across parts of Oregon you have never been to before. I was surprised when we got to the winery it was both beautiful and a little crowded. Joanne was our hostess and treated us well and was very knowledgeable of all the wines. The tasting was, I think, $10/person which some reviewers said was high. We disagree with that. Where can one get 5-6 good tasting of premier wines for $10? Our preference was the Freedom Hill Pinot but we did treat ourselves to a limited edition Pinot- which was a bit pricey but worth every penny. Joanne allowed us to open and drink it on the patio overlooking the vineyards. It was a memorable moment. Side bar-- on the way to or from Lange Winery, watch for an artisian goat cheese farm. We stopped after our Lange tasting and treated ourselves to a great cheese. It went well with the fresh bing cherries and the Pinot Noir later that day. Lange is stop worth making- a bit of a long dusty drive but good scenery, good wine and a good selection of other tastings.
