It's quite small but very well done. The docents are quite knowledgeable. Great for kids. Plenty of parking.

“Wonderful small museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 December 2013

My husband and I visited this museum with daughter and 2 grandkids. It was a very pleasant experience. We enjoyed the mixture of archaology, anthropology, and geology in the exhibits. The museum volunteer was very pleasant and good at explaining things to small children. There's a hands-on area where the kids can play with and examine a variety of artifacts and items inspired by them. The displays are well designed, with a treasure trove of information, sure to keep adults interested. The museum is small -- we could see everything in about 1.5 hours, but fairly complete. Definitely a good choice. There's a guest shop, coatracks, and the museum itself is all on one level w/no stairs. No snack area, so feed the youngsters beforehand.

“My favorite museum!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 October 2013

I could be a bit biased since I have volunteered here for the last 8 years, but I love this museum! It is small enough to see in an afternoon, but it is full of interesting things. It is all about the natural and cultural history of Oregon. It has Dioramas of each of the four geologic regions, with artifacts for each region. If you like to do a museum on your own, there is plenty to read and absorb. If you like a tour, they are given daily at 1:00 and 3:00. In February they will be opening a new exhibit hall featuring geology, earthquakes and volcanoes, as well as stewardship of the earth. It even has two murals painted by the artist, Ray Troll! The galleria has changing exhibits, such as the Ray Troll exhibit that is there until February. Another gallery also has changing exhibits. Right now it is about 5 different archaeological digs around the state.

This museum continues to grow and to surprise long-time members, like myself, with the fine exhibits that they showcase.
