My company decided to put our business group into this excellent hotel. The positives far outweigh the negatives. It is very convenient to many interesting restaurants and bars nearby. The rooms are great and nicely upgraded. The HDTV was perfect in size. The wireless internet was more than adequate. Lots of closet space. Comfortable king size bed and sheets. The shower was like in Europe with no real glass door. There was a 12" wide piece of glass and a narrow tiled wall to deflect the water spray. One just has to be careful to avoid splashing water on the bathroom floor. Not really a big deal.

I did check out the dry sauna in the attached Aveda Day Spa. Plush robes are available. It is complimentary to hotel guests. Wish there was a general hot jacuzzi for guests after all day of traveling. I understand you can upgrade to a jacuzzi suite upon check-in if available but I respectfully declined.

I liked the Farmer's Market breakfast for a reasonable $12. Excellent eggs, sausage, potatoes, and apple butter jelly for the whole wheat toast. See photo. Delivered through a small lockable door or pass-through into the room. First ever experience. The Heat and Glo fireplace was also a nice touch. It will heat up the hotel room on a cold night. One last comment was the staff. Always willing to help and provide tips. Nice to come home to a warm smile.I will return.

Room Tip: One downside was a train making noise and served as a wakeup call at 3:36am. I understand that diff...

We really enjoyed this hotel. Two years old, the rooms and bathrooms are spacious and well-appointed. Coffee/tea makers and refrigerators in each room. Spacious desk and many electrical plugs. There is a free computer and printer on each floor and also pre-packaged ice.

The number one asset of this hotel is the staff. Every staff member went out of his/her way to make our stay pleasant. They were all a source of good information about Eugene and activities in the town.

There is a van and car available for free; the staff is happy to pick you up from the airport or take you to a meeting or a restaurant. The only exception we found was that the car didn't begin operation until 7am. Our family had an 8am flight and so we had to take a taxi at 6:30am. There a number of early morning flights from Eugene to Portland, SF and LA so it would be nice if they started their car service a little earlier.

My wife and I needed a place to stay for our Honeymoon after our wedding in Eugene. This was the perfect place. We ended up in a suite with a jacuzzi tub, which was great after being on our feet all day. The room was spacious, very clean, and well decorated. The room's extra features stood out from other hotels, and were a pleasant surprise compared to most all other hotels in the Eugene area. This place is a bit pricey, but well worth it for a special occasion or for a visitor who wants to enjoy a comfortable place near downtown Eugene, the Hult Center, Autzen Stadium, or the University of Oregon / Hayward Field. The Inn at the 5th's sister restaurant is the Marche at the 5th St. Public Market, which has arguable the best menu and venue in Eugene for fine dining.

Another stop on College Tours 2014. This time visiting Univ of Oregon. Perfect spot for an overnight stay. Very good location as the school is only minutes away. There are other hotels closer but this one is situated in a small shopping complex with a bar, restaurant, and a gourmet mini-mart that makes an overnighter a lot easier. Rooms are unique and website photos are very accurate. Fireplaces a very cool touch. Balcony tiny but functionally cute. Hotel is situated close to street and train station but we had a street facing room and noise was not a factor. In my opinion the real #1 reason to stay here...The front desk staff. Every single one of them are fantastic. Whoever runs HR over there deserves a raise. As do the front desk staff. Oh hell, give 'em all a raise because they sure made our stay unbelievably great.

(One tiny suggestion would be a small towel hook hung within reaching distance of the shower exit. Travel tip #53 - I figured a way to hang my towel on the picture frame. )

1 night, took daughter on college tour. Rainy, drizzly day in March.

New hotel. nice lobby. attached to new shopping complex. Super-friendly staff. The hotel is roughly U-shaped with the top facing south. The rooms are nicely furnished (gas fireplaces!!), new. Beds are very comfortable.
-Train noise on north side may be bothersome. Ask for south-side room.
-we got south-side room within the interior of the U. Room 219. NOTE: on the same floor in the interior of the U is the patio for a lounge, pub, wine-bar type of place. Our room had a little balcony that was on the same level (+/- 1 foot) as the outdoor pub area. closest table would be ~8 ft from our balcony slider. During warmer weath this could be an issue.

Comments on the rooms:
-The exterior lighting in the pub patio area is on all night. Needed to close black-out curtains.
-Bathroom- very modern glass/barn door that slides on tops rails. Not an actual closing door. This may not be everyone's idea of --privacy--.
-Bathroom- no heater, fan, or small spots lights. just a general ambient light around the big mirror. Need a couple of spots, heater, fan.
-Bathroom - Shower is nice walkin, no door. Nice, but without a fan, may not be for everyone. But it's a nice shower.

Keep in mind it's a nice hotel, new, kinda-well designed, except for the concerns above.

Nearby restuarants : Across the street->Steelhead Brewery, good beer, family friendly.
beppe and giannis Trattoria- good italian. Well-known local favorite. make reservations.

The entire town seems to be filled with friendly people! Weird! Makes you want to go back.

Room Tip: Train tracks near north side of hotel. Avoid 2nd floor south-side rooms in interior of U. Avoid ro...

We recently traveled to Eugene to tour the U of O campus and chose the Inn at the 5th because of it's outstanding reviews, and I am about to add one more! We arrived on a late flight, and were graciously met by a hotel staff member in a luxurious motorcoach to bring us to the hotel. We had 2 rooms, both of which were spacious, well appointed and and fireplace added a wonderful atmosphere. The staff really goes out of their way to make your stay phenomenal. They provided shuttle services for locations within 4 miles, helpful tips and recommendations and overall get a 10++ for their customer service. The location allowed us the ability to reach most place with a 10-15 minute walk and there were plenty of restaurants and shopping opportunities near by. Room service is provided by the neighboring French restaurant "Marche" and we had a wonderful breakfast each morning. I highly recommend having dinner their during your stay~ All in all it was a flawless trip. My daughter has chosen the U of O to attend in the fall and we will definitely be back at the Inn!!

This is hands down the nicest hotel in Eugene. But what is incredible is how nice and accommodating the hotel staff is. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels over the years and his place takes customer service to a new level. If you ever find yourself in Eugene Oregon, do yourself a favor, pick this spot!
