Rye Restaurant, on 3rd Street, in Eugene is tucked away in a location you might miss while in Eugene. Many local folks don't even know about it but they should! It is casual but a bit upscale as well. They take reservations and I've eaten there with a group of 10 (and are open on Mondays when many restaurants are closed.) It has a great varied menu. I ate the Tunisian Pork with pasta and it was delicious - the most tender pork I've ever eaten. The African spices were not overwhelming but just the right amount. There is a catch of the day and, when salmon is in season (which is now), they have fresh caught northwest salmon one of my friends said is like butter in your mouth. Even the side veggies are delicious - the best cooked baby carrots I've ever tasted! They have a variety of wines and cocktails. There is a "chocolatier" instead of a baker so you can get a bite of your choice of chocolate for dessert - just the right touch for ending a meal. Or they have more substantial desserts. The servers were accommodating and pleasant. It was just a generally lovely place to dine. I would return in a heartbeat.

I so enjoy taking friends to lunch here - they have unique dishes that are outstanding, and they often change their menu so you know you can always try something new. And their dessert chocolates make you almost want to rush through your lunch!

We stopped by for lunch. What a surprise. Great short menu and terrific service. Eugene is not known for either. The new owners have cleaned this place up and warmed up the decor. Really worth a try. They also have a no smoking outdoor seating area.

We had a great light dinner of grilled green beans and 2 different salads -- smoked salmon cake salad and duck confit. The highlight of the dinner was the surprise dessert menu which had single fairly large handmade chocolates of different flavors which were paired with drinks. The after dinner drink choices were offered in 3 sizes. We had the salted caramel with scotch whiskey and the orange cream chocolate with Byrrh. Both were amazing and a great way to end a light summer meal with just a taste of sweet. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was great. Really a great find.

Got turned around in Eugene and stumbled into this wonderful restaurant with my husband and daughter for lunch yesterday. Had an excellent martini, perfectly made, and a chèvre frites for appetizer (fried goat cheese ball with onion marmalade and toast points) If we were at home, one of us would have licked the plate clean. We had Moroccan meatball sandwich with fries, chicken salad, and smoked pork tenderloin sandwich. Excellent lunch and i would absolutely seek out this restaurant for lunch or dinner anytime I am back in the Eugene area.
