Rye Restaurant, on 3rd Street, in Eugene is tucked away in a location you might miss while in Eugene. Many local folks don't even know about it but they should! It is casual but a bit upscale as well. They take reservations and I've eaten there with a group of 10 (and are open on Mondays when many restaurants are closed.) It has a great varied menu. I ate the Tunisian Pork with pasta and it was delicious - the most tender pork I've ever eaten. The African spices were not overwhelming but just the right amount. There is a catch of the day and, when salmon is in season (which is now), they have fresh caught northwest salmon one of my friends said is like butter in your mouth. Even the side veggies are delicious - the best cooked baby carrots I've ever tasted! They have a variety of wines and cocktails. There is a "chocolatier" instead of a baker so you can get a bite of your choice of chocolate for dessert - just the right touch for ending a meal. Or they have more substantial desserts. The servers were accommodating and pleasant. It was just a generally lovely place to dine. I would return in a heartbeat.
