“Very Enjoyable Hike!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 January 2014

This is a great trail that leads to the beach and also to the Heceta Head Lighthouse. Wear rain gear if the weather is wet inasmuch as you will be walking through a rain forest. The trail is very scenic with old growth forest and lush vegetation. Some areas can be a bit muddy so wear your boots and have a great time!

“Great little hike”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 January 2014 via mobile

This hike was an easy one for our six year old. It is uphill going back up, just took a little bit longer. The beach was nice, not crowded. You can go the extra three miles round trip to the lighthouse, but you have to start at the trailhead. If you do both it's four and a half miles. One for the Hobbit Trail and three and a half for The Haceta Head Lighthouse.

“Not all its cracked up to be”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 November 2013

I dont understand how this is no.1 in Florence. Its just a trail off the side of the road down to a pretty basic NW beach. Its a nice trail but has nothing to do with hobbits/LODRs. The covered part of the trail is about 10 feet long at most. Lock up your car or take stuff with you!!!

“Great hike with the dog”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 September 2013

What a super little hike through interesting trees and ending up on the beach. Be careful crossing 101 from the parking area. The trail Is short and easy for dogs and people! But, watch your step as there are lots of gnarly roots, and watch your head as there are low overhangs. The view of the beach is breathtaking. It may be crowded in the summer, but on a clear September day it was deserted. Well worth a stop.
