A bit of a hike, but Haceta lighthouse is the best ever on the West Coast. The lighthouse itself is beautifully refurbished and the view is awesome.

The walk up to the lighthouse from the parking lot is about 1/2 mile (each way). It is uphill to the lighthouse and the path is mostly unpaved, but worth it, if you are able. There is a small gift shop about halfway up. At the lighthouse, during certain hours, you can pay to have someone tour you up inside the lighthouse, but as we didn't do that, I can't speak to that option.

The lighthouse has recently been renovated, so it was bright and shiny the day we were there. It was the nicest looking lighthouse we saw on our Oregon Coast road trip.

My husband, adult son and I visited the lighthouse on a recent driving trip of Oregon. We didn't have directions and thought we could find it on our own. Bad idea--we ended up on the beach in Florence. The lighthouse is north of Florence past the Sea Lion Caves. Get directions.

The walk to the lighthouse isn't difficult or very long, but it is longer than I expected and uphill on an unpaved trail. It was a pleasant and invigorating walk and well worth the effort.

The lighthouse is absolutely charming and the view from the top over the little cove quite beautiful. We arrived late in the day so we couldn't get inside. I don't know if we would have been allowed inside earlier, but it really didn't matter to us. There were very few people there (around 7:00 P.M.) and we enjoyed having the place almost to ourselves. It's such a lovely spot. There is a little beach area below and, if we had been there earlier or had children with us, we might have taken a walk along the water after seeing the lighthouse. The website says there is a $5.00 use fee to use the park but, since there was nobody official there when we got there, I have no idea what that means.

We stopped here this year after it was closed for renovations when we tried to visit 2 years ago. The lighthouse has been completely restored as has the keepers cottage which is now a bed and breakfast. You park down near the beach and it is about a 10 minute walk up to the lighthouse. volunteers give tours. We had to wait about 10 minutes for our tour to start but meanwhile there is information about the renovations that can be perused. Views from the top are great if it is a clear day and you can walk up above the lighthouse on part of the Oregon coastal trail that give you even more spectacular views. There is a gift shop but it had a sign on it that said back in 15 minutes but 20 minutes later no one had shown up so we headed on our way.

Was one of the most prettiest light houses we had ever seen. Was very nice. Several places to pull over on the road and get good pictures.
