“Great Place to Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2014

We really enjoyed our stay at the Blue Heron Inn. These innkeepers have been doing this for a long time and it really shows. They have thought of every possible convenience for their guests.
Florence is a very cute town and this is a great option for where to stay. The B&B is immaculate. Each room is nicely decorated and very clean. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast during our brief stay. The yard is small but has bird feeders and a wonderful view of the river. I can't think of anything I would change. If we are ever in Florence again, we will definitely stay at the Blue Heron Inn.. I can recommend this B&B without any reservations.

Special thanks for the bottle of white wine and the cookies!

Eileen and Mike

We stayed two nights and we value a good breakfast when we stay at B and B's so I'm happy to report that breakfast was great. The hosts, Maurice and Stella were extremely friendly and welcoming and not pushy or in your space like some other places we've stayed. We stayed in two different rooms because the Inn was full when we booked and both rooms were clean, large and very accomadating. Moving from one room to the other was very easy and not a bother at all.
We enjoyed sociallizing with the other guests over breakfast and we appreciated being able to linger over breakfast chatting with the other guests and not feeling rushed.
Wi Fi was a bit weak but other than that we would definately come back if in the area again.

The Blue Heron Inn was a wonderful experience. First of all it is in a beautiful location, the Suislaw river practically at the front door. The inn itself is so lovely and homey, you feel like you are staying with good friends, Maurice and Stella, your hosts, are most hospitable and gracious providing amenities not usually required. They are so helpful as guides to the region as well. We loved staying here and look forward to staying here again soon.

I have been staying at the Blue Heron once or twice a year since I stumbled on it in about 2009. Maurice and Stella are like family now, and my visits with them are a highlight of my trips to Florence! The breakfasts are incredible, scenery is awesome, and the rooms are wonderful, with character, space, and plenty of amenities. You are treated like family here - I would HIGHLY recommend a stay, I know I won't be staying anywhere else whenever I'm in Florence!

Room Tip: All the rooms are wonderful!

From the first time we stayed at the Blue Heron Inn it felt like home. We were welcomed with open arms.We were shown round, where to find tea and coffee should we want any at a later time.We were then shown to our room, which was quite lovely. After we had settled in, and had come downstairs we were told of all the places to see and the differant kinds of resturants that were available. They gave us their recomondation, which we took. And we were more than pleased with our dinner. In the morning we awoke to the smell of coffee brewing, we quickly got dressed and went down to find a beautiful table set for breakfast. And what a breakfast it was!! It started with a delightful yogurt & fresh fruit salad served several types of breads & muffins. Next came Maurice's signture egg souffle & Stella's yummy special home fries. And all the while there was coffee, tea & juices flowing thru the entire meal. After we left the table we sat down to read the paper and watch the river gently roll by. It was hard to say good-bye. We have sinced returned many times and will continue to do so. Ron & Karen

We were comfortable in the Blue Heron Inn. It's not in the heart of Florence, but close enough not to be a problem. Maurice and Stella welcomed us and gave lots of good advice on places to eat and see. The room we had was spacious and the breakfasts were excellent. The hosts were willing to accommodate our eating requests and still provide a tasty and filling start to the day.

Room Tip: We only tried one room and it was great. I can't imagine that others would be different.

My husband and I recently spent two very comfortable nights here. We were in the Heron room which is very nicely decorated - and from the other rooms I caught sight of, it is the nicest. Stairs however are steep and narrow so be prepared to carry luggage with some difficulty.

Maurice greeted us at the door on our arrival. He showed us around the house including the basement where there is a fridge and microwave for the use of guests as well as a large TV and library of movies for their pleasure. Then he took us to our lovely room. Expect to be on the receiving end of a long informative talk at this point. Maurice has much information to impart but at the end of a long day, it can be a little overwhelming.

We did follow his advice to book a table at the Waterfront Depot for the next evening and we were very glad to have done so - a great meal there.

Breakfast at the Blue Heron was lovely both days but be prepared to eat at 9a.m. sharp - not a problem for us and I understand the reasoning behind it but I am sure some folk are not pleased by the regimentation. It was fun talking to the other guests too.

The small bottle of wine in our room was a nice touch and it was replenished the second night.

Maurice is a very talkative man and his wife, Stella, is a quiet lady but very friendly also. We enjoyed both of them.

Overall, a very good place to stay in Florence.
