“The Best Vacation Place of All!”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

What an incredible experience! My girlfriend and I went to the Edwin K for her birthday, and it was like staying for the weekend in the movie Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. The home is decorated in so many antiques and fine objets d'art, you have to look out the big bay window in the living room to remember that you are in the early 21st Century, not the late 19th. You will be warmly welcomed by Marv and Laurie with a plateful of incredible chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies, and if you check in after 5 in the afternoon, you will be invited to partake in a glass (or two or three, should that be your pleasure) of fine sherry. Then you are escorted to your room (I recommend the Spring Room in which Carrie Billitz and I stayed, an upstairs megaroom with a sauna tub (lit by red bulbs, dig?) and a large walk-in shower), where the bed is very comfortable and you will sleep the peace of a time before radios, TV's and computers (although some beautiful classical music will be playing in the front living room when you arrive and for the entire evening, playing at just the right volume, not too soft, not too loud). And that just covers the bed part of this B&B. Now to the amazing, five course breakfast served every morning. I won't give it all away, but let us just say that you may not be needing lunch during your stay at the Edwin K. You are in easy walking distance of all the restaurants and shops in the Old Town section of Florence, so why anyone would stay elsewhere absolutely confounds me. Suffice it to say, that once you walk in the front door of the Edwin K, you will echo the words of Brigham Young when he came over the Wasatch Mountains and saw the valley of the Great Salt Lake: This is the Place.

Room Tip: Get the Spring Room, but they are all beautiful and unique!

Lovely old fashioned home. Very clean and neatly decorated. Marv is an outstanding host, really enjoyed visiting with him. And the 5 course breakfast was excellent. We really enjoyed our room and the opportunity to look around and see other rooms. They are all spectacular; especially upstairs; Winter and Spring rooms. Definitely plan to return.

Room Tip: Upstairs Winter and Spring rooms are larger and have views of the Siuslaw river and dunes.

The Edwin K Bed and Breakfast is what you would call a classic B & B. It is run by a husband and wife who live on site and do everything from greeting the guests, baking cookies, serving breakfast and cleaning rooms. The exterior is in beautiful shape as well as the interior. It is very clean everywhere you look. I really enjoyed the hospitality of the innkeepers Marv and Laurie. Marv was there to check me in and offered me cookies, sherry and tea. The room upstairs I was in was called "Fall". The bed was comfortable and the room seemed to be very quiet as I did not hear any other guests. Loved not having a TV in the room. Breakfast in the morning was wonderful! 10 guests were seated for breakfast and we had about 5 courses. I wish I could of eaten more because everything was so good but I was getting full fast. I loved the little square scones they had. Another good thing about this B & B is that you can park your car out front and then just walk to dinner or down to where the boats are. If I am ever in Florence again I will definitely stay here!

This was my first experience in a B&B. Loved it! Loved the historical house, great furnishings and liked the overall feel and look of the house and grounds. Marv was very helpful and talkative about the old house. Will definitely return.

Room Tip: All the rooms were great, different layouts and amenities, such as the old claw foot tub in one room...

The Edwin K is a very nice B&B, very well decorated with comfy rooms. You feel you are staying in someone's home, which you are since the owners, Marv and Laurie live in the back. Marv greeted us and was very helpful on sights to see and even gave us a good recommendation for where we could get an oil change, since we had driven out from Illinois and would be traveling for another month. Another plus was that the Edwin K is located a couple blocks down from the old town part of Florence, which is the most scenic part of Florence, right on the water. The 5 course (!!) breakfasts were delicious. I highly recommend the Edwin K......if we ever get back to Florence, we will definitely stay here again.

If you're looking for a really good B&B while traveling the Oregon Coast, this is the place. The historical house is beautifully restored and rooms are charming. It's location is perfect for exploring Old Town Florence, and there is a great selection of restaurants just a short walk away. Not to mention, the breakfast was really sensational. Best of all, the hosts Marv and Laurie really extend themselves to make their B&B experience special. Don't miss out on this great B&B experience, it's one of the best B&B's you'll find on the Oregon Coast. We hope to return someday.

We loved staying here on our recent trip to the coast. The host, Marv, was very helpful and we enjoyed talking with him. We stayed upstairs for a little more privacy and loved the balcony overlooking the waterfall garden in the back yard. We should have slept with the door open to enjoy the nice cool air. Each room as individual thermostat and our room had wonderful shower. Some rooms have more bathroom privacy than others but we worked around. Coffee was very good and breakfast was interesting and tasted good. We would come back again.

Room Tip: We like the upstairs for more privacy. Each has a private bath but you may want to choose one with s...
