“Would never stay hear again! Unclean and noisy!”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

The floor squeaked with every step, clearly a bad flooring job; both me and my girlfriend have bug bites from the bed; the place looked cheap; the bathroom needed more lighting near the shower; only thing going for it was the view!

As far as I know Driftwood Shores is the only beachfront hotel in the Florence area. It's nestled back about a 1.5 miles off of 101 on Heceta Beach Road and quite a ways away from the Old Town area. Our room had a microwave, a spacious fridge and a wall mounted LED style TV on the wall with the HDMI port accessible. Not a big deal for most but huge for me as we can't stand cable or television for that matter and like to throw our laptop and run Spotify to listen to music. I've stayed in many hotels where you can't reach the HDMI port and/or the TV controls are locked down and can't select inputs. We appreciate the ability to use it how we want. One issue was WiFi on 3rd floor was weak.

I would recommend requesting a room on the north wing if possible as it is angled so that the balcony faces southwest which gets a lot more sun than the south wing which faces northwest.

We ate at the restaurant. I had the cod and chips and was pleased for what it cost. Since the hotel is really nowhere near any restaurants, It's a very nice option to have. You'll probably need reservations on a busy weekend.

The bed was extremely comfortable and the room appeared to be clean; the two key things I care about so the rest was just icing on the cake. Every room has a beach view and the beach is very accessible with little effort. If you want beachfront hotel in Florence, this is what you get and most vacationers will be satisfied. We're definitely going back in a month or so. Our room this weekend was $109 plus tax; you can't beat it. Front counter staff was friendly on check-in and check-out.

Just one little tip - If you're leaving the hotel and you head back east on Heceta Beach Road, there is a little convenient store on the south side of the road just a little ways in. Very handy because they sell good beers and you don't have to drive all the way back to Fred Meyer on 101. We went there twice to beer-up and walked back to our room :)

Our family really enjoyed our stay. The room was very clean, well kept, and spacious. The view was to die for. The little kitchen area was great. It was so nice to be able to walk right down to the beach. Wish we could have stayed longer!

My family and went on a week long vacation along the coast. We stayed in many ocean front hotels. This one was the best. The view was amazing and we saw two humpback whales. The room itself had the most comfortable beds during our trip. We had a kitchenette which was great for us to make our own dinner and breakfast. For the price of the room it is well worth it.

We stayed at the Driftwood Shores with another family of 4 the last week in March of 2014. The location is great: only an hour from Eugene and it is right on the beach. We stayed in suite 231. It was during spring break so they were quite busy and had to rush to turn around the rooms, I'm sure. However, our room had a used juice box in the main closet, strawberry and blueberry remains under the table and crumbs all over the carpet. I called the front desk and they offered to send someone up right away to clean up. Unfortunately, we had already started unpacking and our kids were hungry so we opted to clean it ourselves rather than have the cleaning crew come in while we waited for them to clean up. They gave us a very nice monetary discount and were very apologetic. Everything else was great. The pool is redesigned with sprinkler features and a huge hot tub. When the weather was inclement it was really a life saver. The beach is right outside the door. The suites are very large and the kitchen had everything we needed including salt and pepper. The rest of our trip was very fun!

Room Tip: The pillows were sort of uncomfortable for some in our party almost like a balloon that when compres...

Whenever in Florence on business this is where we stay. The hotel is a little north of town which means it is quite but also means there are no other amenities around. The rooms all have a great view but the standard rooms are a little small (fine for 1-2 people but not for a small family sharing a room, i.e. couple with baby). The biggest complaint I found though is that they say they have High Speed Wireless Internet but while trying to connect to any of the multiple connections they have going by the time it actually connects the signal is lost and you have to try connecting all over again. This was a big issue last time as my phone carrier does not have reception in Florence and I could not connect my phone to the Wi-Fi to make calls and ended up having to make long distance calls from the room.

People at the front desk are VERY nice and friendly, but the hotel itself could use some TLC. The elevators are scary and incredibly slow. The room was cramped, and i could hear our neighbors through the wall, but the view and sunset was amazing. I travel all the time and these were some of the best beds i've ever slept in. If you get hungry, eat at the restaurant... its food is amazing!! Ask to be seated by the window so you can get a view.

Room Tip: make sure you ask for a room on the top floor and in the corner
