“Great HQ for the Oregon Coast”

The Inn is well located to hit all the area attractions. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. A highlight was the hot breakfast with a huge selection of ceral, eggs, waffles, meats, and fruit. This was important to me as I am on a restricted diet. Another fine point about breakfast is that it starts at 4:30 AM so that the really early birds can have hot meal. The lobby has a nice fireplace with a selction of books, and afternoon foods.

There are lots of little extra nice touches at this hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The lobby is inviting, with a fireplace and chairs, a puzzle table, salt water taffy, cucumber water and cookies always available. Cheese and salami at 3pm and popcorn whenever you want it. There is a lovely pool and hot tub. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The breakfast is superb, with lots of choices for eggs and meat, along with waffles, fritatas, fruit, yogurt, potatoes, and muffins. Too m any choices! Makes a lovely getaway, no matter the weather.

The outside is so deceptive. What a delightful place to stay. When we arrived there were cheese, crackers and fruit in a lobby with comfortable sofas and fireplace. Staff was very helpful and we were pleased with our room. The beds were comfortable with great linens. Breakfast was amazing. There were fritatas, wonderful potatoes, and much more. The gentlman who prepared the food gladly shared his recipe. The location is convenient for the coast. A short trip south to Tillamook, a short trip north to Rockaway with its beautiful beaches. This section of the coast is quaint as well as beautiful. I would recommend this to everyone and make sure to stay a couple of nights at least.

Room Tip: While rooms on the third floor facing the water do have a view, we would have preferred facing the w...

We were traveling up the coast of Oregon and were looking for a place to stay the following night. My husband consulted Tripadvisor and found the Garibaldi House Inn and Suites. After reading the positive comments he went directly to their website. The picture on the hotel's site and how they described their property made the decision for us. I called and inquired about a reservation the following night. I asked if they had any rooms that overlooked water. I was told they were not on the ocean but they had rooms overlooking the harbor. However those rooms were more expensive. They had one left and we booked it.

When we arrived at the hotel the next afternoon I was taken aback at where the hotel was situated. I was not sure how we were going to get a view of the harbor. Sure enough when we got to our room and opened the window our view was of the parking lot, Highway 101, 2 gas stations, a railroad track, RV storage lot and a dry dock. No where could we see water or a harbor! We knew the hotel was full so we did not have the option of asking for another room. We decided to address our disappointment with the staff when we checked out.

The next morning the same person who checked us in was at the desk. I told her I thought their advertising of a harbor-view room was false and not worth the extra money. We also asked where the picture that appears on their website of this harbor lit up at night was taken. She said she honestly didn't know where the picture was taken, probably from a boat out in the ocean. That view was certainly no where to be found around the town or hotel! She also said that they tell people who book harbor-view rooms that the harbor is across the street and the hotel does not sit directly in front of it. I explained that I would have been happy being across the street if we could have at least seen the harbor! Her response, with a sigh, was "Well, how was everything else?" Not responding, we took the receipt and left.

Two other things of note. When checking in we had to fill out the usual paperwork - make and model of car, license plate number, name and address. What we didn't expect was two pages of rules where you had to initial next to each and every rule. Next came the "linen policy." The hotel does not see fit to provide top sheets for the beds. Instead there is a duvet with a cover. If you find the duvet too hot or heavy you are instructed to remove the cover on the duvet,, fold up the duvet and place it in the closet and use the cover has a sheet. If you don't want to do it yourself the staff will do it but there is a caveat that they will not put the cover back on the duvet for the remainder of your stay.

My husband and I do a fair amount of traveling and have stayed in large hotels, Inns and bed and breakfasts. Never have we encountered a "linen policy" or had to read and initial 9 rules before getting to our room. The people who own this hotel must have had some very bad experiences in the past.

The staff was outstanding from check-in to (early) check-out! They serve a decent breakfast buffet as well as happy hour snacks - including one hot snack. The room was clean and comfortable, although we did find the bed to bit too stiff//hard. Towels were clean and fluffy.
We did let the front desk staff know about a minor issue with our room and they seemed genuinely concerned and attentive - took notes to later address the issue (the fridge made part of our bottled water freeze). If we had planned to stay longer they would have moved us upon hearing that we found the bed too hard. The pool area looked clean (we didn't swim - only looked in through the window), and the hotel overall was very clean; I would stay here again especially if we could try the bed (or bring a mattress pad- my mom said we are "very sensitive" to bed firmness). The A/C unit worked well and was not very loud.

This hotel is in Garibaldi, Oregon (not Tillamook as another reviewer stated). This hotel is also NOT in Rockaway Beach, although their web site seems to say it is. Garibaldi is about 8 miles north of Tillamook, and about 5 miles south of Rockaway Beach.

Room Tip: the 3rd floor hallways were very warm-a product of the building design; northeast corner faces the p...

We totally enjoyed our stay at the Garibaldi House! The lobby is very welcoming with a fireplace, various comfortable seating choices, lots of great reading material, etc. The rooms were nice, but what really impressed us was the staff, especially the owner, Gene. We saw him interacting with several guests on quite a few occasions, as well as with ourselves. We were also very impressed with the breakfast (as well as the afternoon/evening "snacks!")! Great variety of food, with the staff constantly checking on the buffet, making sure everything was sufficient, and the guests were enjoying it. We hope to be back in the future! :-)
