“Ask for room 204”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

The room we stayed in, 204 was a corner room and had really nice views in two directions. It was very clean, nicely decorated. A great place for a romantic getaway.
The only annoyance were the loud drunks in the parking lot at the bar's closing time.

Room Tip: room 204 is a corner room and has great views

This is the second time we have stayed at the property. The building has been here for years but the hotel rooms were added last year. The rooms are quiet and very clean. The two different rooms we have stayed in both had their own bathrooms. The windows open up so you can enjoy the sea breeze. The front desk clerk was very helpful.
We stayed this time using a Hammerhead package which has dinner and breakfast credit. I probably would not do that again because we noticed that the quality of the service in the restaurant had changed. It was not a one time experence but was terrible slow the three times we used the restaurant and bar. The first time we sat down at 3:00 and by 3:20 we still had not recieved a menu so we left, even though we were at a table that had many services going by. Later that evening we went about 10:00 PM and it took about 35 minutes before we got the appetizer we ordered. Breakfast the next day was just as slow and we had to keep asking for basic supplies like butter and jam to go with the muffin,
We eat out a lot and our very patient so very few times do we complain about service or walk out because of no sercie. So bottom line, hotel wonderful but restuarant no so wonderful.

Room Tip: Back rooms along golf course are probably quieter than room in front along street.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, i appologize that you did not get the best service from all areas. We have made some staffing changes and brought in a new chef and things are heading in the right direction, i hope you will come stay with us again in the future and hope we can show you we learn from our mistakes.

This is the second time we spent time at this property. What a delight. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I would recommend you try the golf and friendly restaurant for a nice time close to Seaside but away from the noise. This was a Birthday Trip and we had a wonderful time. Ask for a room with a golf course view.

Room Tip: View of the golf course.

Gearhart offers those who stay a much quieter, low key spot, yet within a short drive (7 miles) from the hustle/bustle of Seaside. We stayed due to a wedding at McMenamins, and enjoyed our visit. Our room # 206 was a corner unit with large handicap bathroom with shower( most unusual, as we understand most McMenamins hotels have shared bathrooms) l.No balcony, but view of golf course was lovely. Lots of open windows ( how do they manage without screens?) offered fresh cool air ventilation We were awakened at 7AM with course mowing and garbage truck pick-up.Also, tables in floor below us were a bit noisy from staff setting up tables for breakfast guests. King bed was comfy.Room was very clean, well maintained. We were initially startled to find no closet in the room, but the hooks in bathroom and wall helped to hold our garment bags. A relative stayed in # 205, and was awakened throughout the night with bottles and other dumping from the restaurant/bar area. Staff helpful.

Thanks for the review sorry about the closet thing, most of the rooms do have them. As for the noise we try to keep it to a minimum but being on a golf course is sometimes a challenge as for the trash we do have a noise ordinance and they should not be dumping before 8AM.. We hope you can stay with us again sometime.

A splash from the past but it is actually newly decorated. No more white Sheetrock. The wood work is amazing, as is the room and art work. Bedding was great...as we sleep with the windows open and fan running. The next morning was foggy, but a pretty cool view of the golf course.

I was driving through with a friend, and we stopped for lunch on our way out of town. The location was great, along with the food and service. I would love to come back and stay the night, as it seemed like a great place to stay and dine.

Receptionist was rude when we called with questions about the area. When I booked I was told on the phone it was in Astoria, on the beach...it was none of these things. To top it off they wanted to charge me almost double..
