Gilchrist Inn is a wonderful place to stay! After a horrible experience trying to stay at the Union Creek Resort we called Marlene (the owner) at 8:30pm with our story to see if the room we had booked for the next day was open that night since we could not stay where we were at. She said yes and stayed up to greet us when we arrived at 10:30pm! She immediately made us feel right at home. The Lady in Red room where we stayed was awesome! It had a king bed in one room and a queen in the other, as well as a twin bed in a back area. It had a little reading room with a "fainting couch" and a nice back porch area. It also has a beautifully manicured front yard with a small table and four chairs. The kitchen and bath were great and stocked with everything you could need. The beds were really comfortable as were the couches in the living room. DirecTV was provided as well. The area is really safe and quiet. There's not much going on in Gilchrist which makes it a really nice little place to just stroll around in. If you need more places to eat, or things to do, Crescent is just a mile down the road and it's not very far from Crater Lake. It was much closer than I had originally thought. Also, The price is great. You basically get a whole Condo (actually it's even bigger than many condo's I've seen) for what you would pay for a so-so hotel room. And I can't say enough about Marlene. She is a wonderful lady and very accommodating. This is now my go to place whenever I am going to be in the area.
