We'd eaten here once years ago and had a poor meal, but based on all the more recent glowing reviews we thought we'd give it another try. Glad we did!
We had one lunch here and it was so good we ate lunch here again during the week we were in town. The Chef's Salad was excellent! The first time we both had salads. They make their own Ranch and Blue Cheese dressings and they were *very* tasty... and probably high fat & calorie but what the heck, life is short :-)
Portion size was large and the salads had lots of extra 'goodies' on them.
For our second lunch, I wasn't real hungry so had a ½ turkey sandwich + split pea soup. Both were good - the sandwich had lots of fresh meat and the soup tasted 'homemade'. My husband had another Chef's Salad since he enjoyed the first one so much!
Our service both times was very good. They have beer and wine and serve local microbrews from Arch Rock Brewing in Gold Beach.
The place was full of locals and the servers seemed to know most of them by name. The Port Hole does not even approach "upscale" or "fancy", it's a comfortable cafe` with good food.
