Great ocean view rooms with private balcony. What a place to watch the sunset with a glass of wine. The rooms are large with a microwave and small fridge, large flat screen tv, small table and chairs and patio rockers on the balcony. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to anyone!

Room Tip: If you want an ocean view stay on the second floor.

This is a very clean hotel and you are right at the side of the beach the views are spectacular and it is a peaceful area and nice and quiet.
Gold beach is perfect small resort with good cafes with good walking and 3 supermarkets it is perfect for family and couples or on your own.
Our room was large and a huge bed and very clean parked our outside the door the staff were very good and you had everything you could ask for in your room i would stay there again.

We ended up rolling into town around 9:00 PM after an awesome drive south along Highway101. The property had good curb appeal so we pulled in with no reservation. It just so happened that their only room left was an a-framed detached cabin located down by the beach so after a quick negotiation with the from desk clerk we were able to save $20 as well! The cabin was clean and semi-rustic which was super cool. It was isolated and very charming. Just steps to the beach we heard the wave crashing from our bed. We enjoyed this experience immensely and would recommend the 'little cabin by the ocean' to couples looking for romance.

Room Tip: Ask for the little cabin by the ocean.

We booked an economy room for $99. It was a small room, very clean, with a tiny bath that was at the end of what appeared to be the older, original building, perpendicular to the beach. There was a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. It did face the ocean and we had a good breeze with the door open. However we could not see the ocean because of a small dune which I assume was the block the wind, which I learned can be very strong on the coast. There was a trail nearby that led to the beach. There was a second building that ran parallel to the beach which I assume had the condos because they had balconies.

I was hesitant booking a room here because it seemed overpriced, but this ended up being one of our favorite nights on our coast trip. We booked room 220, which is a second floor king room. The room had super high ceilings and a balcony that looked out to the ocean. The decor was more "cozy" than modern, but it was fine. As others have mentioned the hotel isn't directly on the beach. However, there is nothing between the hotel and the beach. The beach is definitely close enough that you can see the water and hear the waves. In the morning it was nice to be able to make the 10 minute walk out to the water.

The evening that we arrived we were tired from traveling and wanted to see the sunset. We grabbed some beer and a pizza from Sunset Family Pizza and took it back to the hotel. We sat in the new rocking chairs on the balcony and had a great, relaxing night. In the morning we went to the Chowder House, which is on the hotel property, for breakfast. It is owned by the hotel so we each received $5 off of our meal. The restaurant was completely updated inside and the food was good.

Decent hotels on the OR coast tend to be priced higher than I would expect. Based on comparable options I'm really glad we stayed here.

Room Tip: Room 220 was great.

My wife and I stayed there the night of September 8th. We started the day at Crater Lake National Park. From Crater Lake, our GPS directed us to I-5 and then had us take the Merlin exit (believe Exit# 61 just north of Grants Pass). We went into the 90 mile drive from I-5 to Gold Beach expecting a scenic but curvy road. I can't remember the amount of time our GPS recommended for this drive, but I believe it was anywhere from 2 to 2 1/2 hours. This road is nicely drawn on my 2013 Rand McNally Atlas too. The first 10-15 miles were fine, and the last 15-20 miles were fine. The 60+ miles in the middle were very frustrating! In the simplest sense, these 60 miles were on a paved logging road. The road had no painted lines and no guard rails; plus, there were stretches of pure gravel, stretches of cracked pavement and stretches with rocks on the pavement. The road was not very wide - definitely not a comfortable width for RVs, campers, etc. For the majority of the time, I drove between 20-30mph. The 90 mile drive took us 3 to 4 hours. Since I am not from Oregon or the Pacific Northwest, I can't advise you on a great route to take from I-5 to Gold Beach; however, if you are anxious to get to Gold Beach or even the ocean, I strongly recommend you take a different route. On the positive side, we loved the hotel!! The front desk service, our large and clean room, the view of the ocean from our patio room, the nearby sound of the ocean and the delicious food from the Chowder House made our stay perfect! We can't say enough about this wonderful hotel and can't wait to stay there again! The only frustrating part of hotel was the sandy walk to the beach which was expected. My wife is in a power wheelchair, so she was unable to enjoy the beach. Hopefully some day, the city, hotel or whomever will pave or boardwalk the trail to the beach so that people with all abilities can easily enjoy the ocean.

Room Tip: Spend a few extra dollars and stay in the rooms facing the ocean.
