This is a great place to head to after you get off the mountain - full of locals and travelers alike. A Government Camp classic!

Out of the 3 days we were there, we at there twice. It was so good. We were highly impressed. Each time we visited, the cooks came out to talk to us. The love they put into their soups each day was spectacular. We tried something new each time and were never disappointed. Doesn't look like much from the outside or even inside, but the food was exceptional! Can't wait to go back.

After walking in with an empty coffee cup and almost being tossed out for bringing in other places drinks, things got better. Yes the service was a bit hit and miss, but had great cheap lunch and a friendly place to stop for a bite to eat.

Stopped here for a mid-afternoon lunch on a Monday, on our way through on a drive from Portland. Decided to sit outside, bartender asked us what we wanted to drink, ordered those, he handed us menus and we sat ourselves at a nice solid wood picnic table out on the patio which faced the Loop through town. He came out w/ drinks and we ordered. The cook brought out the appetizer, the "gator taters" which were tater tots with cheese & jalapeños inside, good choice for a munchie. Our drinks were empty before we got our sandwiches and bartender/waiter guy was nowhere in sight so I got up & went in for refills, not a big deal except he wasn't busy when I walked into the bar, just standing there watching tv with the patrons. The cook also brought our entrees, which mine had a pile of onions on the blackened chicken burger and I ordered no onion; my boyfriend got the club, no tomato and it had tomato on it. Again, no biggie, just meant the bartender didn't listen or remember.throughout the entire meal, which was actually pretty good, nobody came to check on us or offer a box or anything. I, again, had to go inside to ask for a box and the check. The bartender, again, was leaning against the back of the bar, watching tv. I left more of a tip for the cook who did a good job and was very gracious when we did see him, then the bartender / "waiter" who cared more about watching tv then waiting on customers who weren't sitting at the bar in front of him. I left very unhappy. The food was good but I wouldn't come back for this reason. It's a shame, if you don't want to be in customer service, do something else.

You might love it or hate it, but no stay on Mt. Hood is complete without an after-ski adult beverage at Charlie's. The history and ambiance at this place is awesome. Assuming you're into this kind of place. The food is pretty darn good for bar food. What's somewhat confusing is that there are three sets of menus (apetizer menu on the napkin holders, lunch, and dinner). There is a restaurant area "in the back", but the crowds tend to hang out by the bar. Depending on the time of day, you might have to order from the bar.
