“unbelievable dinning experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2011

Our family had zero expectation coming from big city with excellent restaurants, when we arrived at the Morrison's Lodge we were shocked at the quality of chefs and food they prepared night after night. They served reasonably priced 4 course meal and we can hardly forget long after our rafting trip. The dinner experience was spectacular and middle school children cannot forget the delicious chicken fettucini! The lodge offers family oriented services and they are just a group of wonderful people you want to be around while enjoy your nature scenery. our two children (middle school aged) enjoy the environment and the food and we definitely recommend this place to our family and friends!

My review is limited to our river trip, as we did not stay at the lodge.

Our family took the 'all day' rafting tour and it was fantastic! The check in was simple and we were quickly fitted for gear and shuttled to our drop off area. The first part of the trip was quiet as we were almost the only boat in the water. The wildlife and scenery were breathtaking.

The morning portion of the trip was very easy going, with some historical sites and only mild rapids at points. This included navigating through Hells Gate, which is gorgeous. Our group was larger, so some of the people used kayaks along side the raft and it was completely safe and a way to get closer to water and enhance the experience.

Lunch was served on the deck of the rustic, lovely Morrison Lodge, and better than expected. They even provided a vegetarian selection. This resort is beautiful and looks like a fantastic destination for any size group. The staff was friendly and prompt.

Our afternoon provided more challenging rapids, but enough still water to swim at times or banter with other boaters. Our guide, Frankie, was amazing. He kept us entertained and appropriately amused (in a non-dorky way!).

I definitely recommend booking a rafting tour through the lodge. They are reasonably priced and provide and exceptional experience on the Rogue!

River guides Frankie, Phil, and Parker were courteous, professional, and very skilled in taking our group down the river. It was a wonderfull day! We'll definitely return to Morrison's for the rustic but elegant cabins, great food, and adventure on the river.

Room Tip: Ask for a cabin with a balcony to enjoy the lovely view.

My mother, sister, and I shared a room here the night before our rafting trip. It was clean and quiet. They also had a selection of dvds to watch in your room. We spent the evening sitting on chairs by the river watching the bats fly around. A very pleasant place to stay. We did not have their dinner, but I heard it was good.

Such a special place! Cabins on the river are great and loved the wood burning fireplaces. The view of the Rogue - beautiful Love the dinner bell that rings, cozy lobby , just an amazing setting for families, kids, friends or couples. The staff is first class! We went white water rafting - for the first time - so fun! We have been twice in one year, and trying to figure out when we will go back.

Room Tip: The rooms in the lodge are small, stay in the cabins(like mini houses)

My husband and I stayed three nights in one of the river view cabins. It was very clean and comfortable. The cabin had a nice sitting area with a fireplace and it's own parking space under the cabin. We had breakfast at the lodge each morning (buffet style with eggs, meats, waffles, fruit, breads, yogurt, cereal, juice, coffee and tea). We had dinner at the lodge one night. The meal was served on the patio which has a beautiful view of the river. The food was very good as was the service. We also ate dinner at the bar/pizza place in Merlin where the people were very friendly and the food was good. There is also a restaurant at Galice Resort which is very good for lunch (hamburgers, salads, ice cream).

The best part of our stay was meeting Morrison's Manager, Lowell Pratt. He introduced himself during breakfast our first day and he went out of his way to make sure we had an enjoyable stay. We were there to kayak on the Rogue River and Lowell was very helpful with shuttle service and information about the river. He was very knowledgeable about the area and extemely helpful with suggestions on what to see and do. We were really impressed with how friendly all the staff members were and how they went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

There is no internet in the cabins, but it is available for free in the lodge lobby. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The river was great to paddle and we saw lots of wildlife including osprey, deer and a bear that was swimming in the rapid in front of my husband!

Thank you Lowell for making our stay so enjoyable. We can't wait to return.

Room Tip: As for riverview cabin - cozy, private and beautiful views.
