This is a two-storey motel located in a mixed commercial-residential area in the center of Hillsboro, not far from Intel Jones Farm and Aloha. I stayed here for four weeks on business and paid $65 a night initially, and then a weekly rate.
My room was the "suite" style, which isn't any bigger, but has a short partition wall and a couch, instead of a second bed and a desk. The building is rather old (and very dated in its exterior styling) but kept in good repair. Furniture and appointments were quite good for the price level.
A breakfast bagel, muffin, & juice is included. If you get bored with it, a McDonalds is next door. The rooms have a refrigerator and microwave, but the ability to prepare food is stymied by the complete lack of a suitable sanitary surface; the best I could manage was to spread a bath towel over the coffee table.
The area has a Mexican blue-collar vibe to it, with Mexican restaurants, taco trucks, and travel & remittance agents, plus the occasional car with ridiculous chrome wheels and mariachi music blaring instead of rock or rap. I did not see any evidence of a crime problem, though, or anything suggestive of drug-dealing or prostitution. A spike fence around the parking lot keeps pedestrian traffic from wandering in. There is a coin-operated clothes washer in the stairwell, but if it is busy or you have a large amount to wash, you may be better served by the laundromat around the corner. Just about anything else you may need is about a mile down the T.V. Highway: Target, (English-speaking) Grocer, Drugstore, etc. The "MAX" trolley line, a cheap and convenient option to central Portland or the airport, has a stop within walking distance, but also consider the frequent service of bus 57 which hooks onto the MAX in Beaverton.
The city operates a fitness center, called the SHARC, directly across the street. For $6 admission you can use a complete weight room, indoor/outdoor pool, hot tub, and sauna. You may want to pack a bath towel in your gym bag. A libary and park are also there.
For a long stay like mine, I would suggest requesting a second floor unit, to avoid the noise of overnighters moving in and out.
In conclusion, I found this place very satisfactory for my needs, and the area decent enough. I believe it is also very suitable for overnight stays. The price was good but not low enough for me to consider it a hidden gem.
