“A family favourite. The place to stay.”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

My family and I loved our two night stay in this hotel. We had a one bedroom, river-view suite on the third floor that would be a large apartment in a major city. Full sized bedroom, sizable bathroom (with a skylight), big kitchen well appointed and a large living/dining area. Whole thing was nicely decked out with things like full length floor mirrors and cabinetry. Hard wood floors. Big beautiful view of the river and the kiteboarding beach. We called the hotel direct and got a really great rate. After two days we tried to change our plans and stay another night but it did not work.

This is an old hotel. The floor squeaks a bit, it doesn't have a pool or a parking lot (street parking was cheap and no problem at all), and you can hear what's going on in the hallway. But it doesn't matter. The place is loaded with charm and weird corners. It is right downtown and you can walk to anything you want to do in Hood River from here. The staff were great, and adjoining restaurant had great food.

Just stay here. We will again.

Room Tip: River view if you can get it.

This is a great place to stay in Hood River - right in the center of town. Our room was a river view, though to be honest it was a little low and compacted with another building to have truly sweeping views of the columbia - there is also the interstate and the tracks and a lot of "stuff" - I think if you go for the higher floors the view would improve significantly.

Room was outfitted in a sort of old-style charm. However there was a very large (and fully new and functional) air conditioning unit which took up some floor space. Bed mattress was much too soft for my tastes - no problems for one night but I would not have been able to sleep on it for an extended stay.

Friendly staff - easy in and out. Delicious breakfast (plus 10 dollar voucher to help defray cost) onsite. Walking proximity to everything in town that matters, including waterfront (and Pfriem brewing). Parking is on the street.

May depend on the rate your paying. If at all reasonable, then this property is Recommended. I would return.

Room Tip: higher floors = better river views.

We lucked out finding this gem in Hood River. The place is in a wonderful location, has tons of authentic old world charm and the staff was over the top! We loved the fact that we were staying in an old hotel with modern amenities. ALL of the staff went out of their way to accommodate and they seemed to form a friendly family atmosphere by appearing to really enjoy their jobs. Dawn and Curtis were especially helpful. The breakfast voucher was appreciated and eggs benedict were great. We look forward to our next stay. Thanks Hood River Hotel for making our stay in Oregon very special.

Room Tip: We liked looking at the river so try for a room on the back.

This is the best centrally located spot to stay in Hood River. The staff were all tremendously welcoming and the room was clean. Parking is $3 for a half day or $5 per day on the street - kind of inconvenient but that's what you get with a vintage hotel. AND $5 is a lot better than most major chains would charge in larger cities. For the people complaining about coffee - it's local roasted organic and free, but you have to walk to the lobby. Everything was so casual there nobody cares if you just rolled out of bed to grab a cup. I'm thinking it's worth the trade off from the individual pot mass produced stuff. Each room is different - our bathroom was big and we had a big closet. The furniture was a little creaky / wearing out and the sink was in our main room, but overall this was well worth my travel dollars and I'll be staying there again if traveling back to Hood River.

Room Tip: A train will run in the early morning 3-5 blocks away downtown at the north of the property. They pr...

This hotel offers a terrific downtown location. Its staff is helpful and friendly with clean and comfortable rooms. The bed was especially comfortable. The rooms, however, are small with a tiny bathroom (former closet) and have no actual closet space. Our biggest gripe was their breakfast deal and parking validation. They do not provide a complimentary breakfast, but rather a $10 breakfast coupon for the room - so breakfast for two runs about $30 with tip. Parking also cost $6 a day. If the hotel provided a complimentary parking voucher and a $10 coupon for each person rather than for the room, this venue would have been a more acceptable option.

We will not stay at the Hood River Hotel for future visits to this lovely place.

You really can't beat the location in Hood River for this hotel. I have stayed here in the past and again just recently, and this is always a good choice. It's nice to see an authentic historic hotel continue to thrive. The staff is friendly and there are good restaurants nearby. This is a great choice.

Spent a night here during a trip to Hood River. Hotel is great-staff were helpful. Rooms were clean and quiet. Bathrooms are small, but that's what you get in a historic hotel. Breakfast voucher got us two homemade smoothies - overall the place is a deal. This will be our go-to place for Hood River.
