A chilly, damp Sunday morning in Hood River, Oregon was transformed into a warm inviting nook of comfortable kitchiness as we entered Bette's Corner of a cute indoor mall of local small businesses aimed to attract the pedestrian visitors.
We were immediately greeted and seated at what could have been my mother's own kitchen table where an impressive breakfast menu awaited. I chose the Chicken fried steak and eggs with a side of 2 freshly baked biscuits and sausage gravy. All of the wait staff were very busy as we arrived just shy of the standing room only phase of the morning in this obviously popular place. The food was well prepared (hash browns crispy, eggs perfectly over-medium), generous portions plated and served quickly and with a sincere smile and plenty of great coffee.
Bette's is not a huge venue, but customers feel comfortable and welcomed with great service, tasty food and a "down home" feel.
