We were driving on Oregon Highway 84 enjoying the majestic Columbia River Gorge and knew before leaving that our trip was to be an overnighter. I had found this property online, the pictures made this moderately priced property look to be a good bargain. It was! There is no elevator, pool or conference facilities but there are clean comfortable rooms. After a long drive-that is all that is necessary most times. The location is easily found and convenient to Hwy 84
as well as convenient to dining and local shops and attractions in a town that is stunning and welcoming. If travel takes you to the Pacific Northwest you cannot go wrong with time spent in Hood River with a stay at the Sunset Motel.

Room Tip: No elevator so avoid the stairs with a ground floor room. It is quiet with just a bit of freeway no...

I have stayed twice in the past year at the Sunset Motel in Hood River, Oregon. The rooms are very clean, some with a view of Mt. Adams. I would recommend this motel for the economy traveller like me!

There is not a pool or fitness center, but hey, the Columbia River Gorge is a great place to enjoy the river and work out on bike trails, hiking trails and the like!

I was very pleased with the hotel and quality service. I booked online the day before and got one of the last 2 rooms left for my stay in the middle of the week. The hotel was very easy to get to and had several businesses nearby very close (grocery, clothing, fuel, dining and more) for my stay. The hotel looked to be recently updated and was tastefully done. I decided to stay here instead of a more expensive "view" hotel since it was just a business trip and was glad to save the money. The only minor tiny issue I had was the mattress could be a little squishier, but I have a very padded mattress at home that I am used to. The pillows were great - no noticeable odors throughout the room and all the amenities I needed were available. Would definitely stay here again.

I booked this room for two nights in advance. The online price was $10 less expensive than I paid making the reservation over the phone. No AARP, AAA or other type of discount available.

Microwave, fridge and DVD player. The TV did not work the first evening and no apology or compensation offered. The Wi-Fi included in the price of the room was great. Ice machine worked and was located close to the office.

Rooms are small but certainly adequate for an overnight stay. I usually stay two nights when booking so would most like pay a few dollars more and stay elsewhere.

What the management does not say on the website is that on a clear day you have a fantastic view of Mt. Adams from the room window.

Room Tip: Some reviews mention being to far to walk downtown. I walked downtown in 15 minutes. A great walk...

This hotel is no 5 star but they do get an A for effort. The rooms are small but have updated furnishings. The bed was super, the desk and chairs, the decor and the TV were all updated. Being directly across the street from a Micky d's and a nice grocery store gives them a plus. Would go back.

Someone spent some time and money raising the bar on this older property. The rooms reminded me of nice mid-level chain hotels I've stayed at - modern furniture, new beds, nice bathrooms updates, comfortable desk chairs, etc. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the rooms have been updated very nicely.
