Excellent breakfast. Great indoor patio setting with excellent grounds and views overlooking the North Umpqua River. The kind of place you always want to take friends and visitors. We do often as it is only 20 miles from our home.

Very close to excellent as our omelets were tasty, cooked perfectly, Grandma's Bread was even yummier with the amazing blackberry jam on top and they put a pot of coffee on the table so hubby was never without.

Friendly service, great food, loved the view from the sunny back dining area, reasonable prices for the size of the meal and fresh local ingredients. Perfect way to start the day. Definite plans are to return for another breakfast or lunch and maybe dinner meal. Best food in our two month stay in the area.

Only two tiny minus's. Coffee might have been a bit bolder (stronger) for our taste and the bran muffin had more of a cupcake than bran muffin consistency. Certainly nothing that would keep us from coming back again and referring our friends.

We do not make it to the North Umpqua as often as we want to but when we do, the steamboat is a must for both dining and accommodations. This time we were staying at another inn because it was free, but the steamboat is the only fine dining experience for at least 30 miles, probably further. Dinner starts with appetizers and wine in the library. on this occasion it was a variety of Yamhill Valley wines with sweet and spicy Duck pagodas and Blue corn tortilla chips with a spicy artichoke dip. From there we moved into the dining room where all the guests sat at two tables, Dinner was served family style starting with Wasabe Mashed potatoes and roasted Zucchini. The wasabi was delicate in the creamy potatoes and the zucchini had just the right amount of crunch. along with the two sides, came both white and garlic fresh dinner rolls. The entrée was Pork tenderloin medallions marinated in a teriyaki sauce and roasted to a medium rare. If you want your pork well done as recommended by the USDA, you do not know what you are missing. it was tender and juicy and oh so flavorful. Oh desert! after part of a fresh brewed French roast cup of coffee came a slice of ginger apple upside down cake with raisins and a scoop of Umpqua ice cream. So that was dinner. The service was excellent with Sue making sure everything was perfect. We got there for dinner a half an hour early and walked in past the "Closed" sign after being told to when we made our reservation. Sue came out and greeted us and then sent us off to the library with a complimentary glass of wine. After a half an hour of reading and conversation with the other guests, the appetizers arrived. Note: outdoor seating depends on the season. it would not have been fun in the rain for our visit.

We ate breakfast at the Steamboat Inn on our way to Crater Lake. What a delightful experience! Our meals were expertly prepared and garnished with flowers. The server warned my husband that he should probably only order one strawberry rhubarb roll-up; given its size, she was right!l We ate in a sunny room facing the garden, next time we'll try a table outside. The descriptions of winemaker dinners have tempted us to return -- soon, we hope.

Everything was wonderful. Appetizers, entrees and dessert. they also have wonderful wine dinners. I have both cookbooks!
Examples of entrees were salmon, pork tenderloin, duck and lamb. Each one had a wonderful sauce and a different homemade bread each night.
