“Surprised at this Holiday Inn ”
Reviewed 4 July 2014 via mobile

This was like a resort, not a Holiday Inn. At first it seemed a little pricey, and a short drive from the downtown but the photos and reviews looked favourable. We were glad we booked. It is beautiful and the staff were super friendly and accommodating. The rooms were huge and posh and very clean. We had our dog with us and had several spots to sit for drinks/eating that were dog friendly. This was very nice! The menu is not extensive or fancy but the food was good and saved us from more travel. We were only here one night, so I am not sure if there are restaurants near, but the city of Klamath is driving close and there are options there.

Thumbs up on this place. It overlooks the golf course too and has great trails!

We were disappointed since we expected a high end resort and room. The balcony was full debris from a birds nest and faced the entrance not at all relaxing. It is a about 50 miles from Crater Lake. Klamath Falls is little, depressing town with very few restaurants that are still in business. There are no longer any falls due to water reclamation.

Hello Donna, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent stay at Running Y Ranch. I sincerely apologize that our resort did not match your expectations. The condition of your balcony is unacceptable with the bird nests. We hope you would consider visiting again in the very near future.

Looking at some of the other reviews makes me wonder if some people are truly ever happy? I booked a chalet over a month before our families stay here and when we arrived after an all day drive tired, cranky and hungry we were given keys to a townhouse. When my husband realized and told the staff there was some mistake George took over the first thing she said was "what can I do to make you happy?" I have not seen top notch no nonsense service like that in forever. George was able to get us an even bigger chalet, the chalets are private like homes and the town houses are like condos attached housing very nice but not what I pre paid for or was expecting. George did not know that we have not been able to go on vacation in well over five years, or the amount of stress my husband had to deal with to get his vacation, or the fact that our son struggled all through his 8th grade year with a new disability what she did know was how to treat her guest with kindness compassion and professionalism. The chalet itself is so fantastic the kitchen is better stocked than my own. It's the little things like quality steak knives, a Brita pitcher with extra filters, spices on hand, Pyrex and enough baking and cooking utensils to make a holiday feast plus a natural gas BBQ on our deck. The rest of the chalet is well stocked for paper products, towels, pillows, blankets, washer and dryer with soap supplied even an iron and ironing board. The views are amazing the people are so nice and informative and very respectful and the grounds are so clean and well taken care of. I woke up this morning to stand on my deck and shared my morning with deer grazing 10 ft. Away and an abundance of birds one even took a bird bath right in front of me in the bubbling brook that runs next to our deck. So adorable I couldn't stop laughing. Very peaceful, no stress, the perfect home away from home, so much so we just went down and paid for a fifth night. Later today I am off to the spa for a massage and facial I can't wait! Oh almost forgot for those who love the Telly every room has a flat screen with cable and yea! Wifi also included no issues and very fast. Thank you George for being a part in making this vacation truly beautiful and stress free.

Room Tip: Definitely request a chalet if you like quiet like to cook your own meals and have a wonderful night...

Our family of four stayed 2 nights in one of the 2-story townhouses. It was perfect. It was clean, spacious and the three bedrooms was a plus. The internet didn't always work though. Otherwise, we enjoyed it!

Running Y Ranch
This is a beautiful resort hotel with nice (well, almost nice) rooms, lobby open area and adjoining restaurant with a nice patio overlooking the gorgeous, well maintained golf course. The hotel seems to be the primary functioning part of a planned resort. Several other buildings on the property, presumably intended as stores and boutiques, stand empty. There are daytime activity options besides golf, but the course is exceptional and worth a stop. The hotel and restaurant staff were all pleasant and helpful.
The hotel rooms are very nicely appointed and it would have been nice to sleep there. But if one also wants to be cool that might not be possible: the air conditioner(s) literally rattles the walls when starting and stopping, and hums loudly between. It did not seem to be a problem limited to our room. We could hear ones in other rooms rumbling through their cycles. (Normally, I would not dwell on something like this but I think it is systemic and likely to be experienced by subsequent guests. Later on our road trip we stayed at nice motel having the same type of AC. It was comfortably quiet.)
The restaurant is a very nice space but has an inadequate food selection. Patio dining is available. We expected that after golf, we could have a drink and appetizer. Drinks were plentiful – nice bar - but sharable snacks? Uh-uh. The meals otherwise – dinner and two breakfasts for us - were just average. Unfortunately, the nearest alternative, which we exercised for dinner our second night, is a 10-mile drive.

Room Tip: Request a quiet air conditioner and a room on the golf course side. Higher floors make no differenc...

Dear Dantogo, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your stay at Running Y Ranch. We are pleased that you found the resort property and golf to your liking. The center village is currently under review for new owners with the intent to infuse new shops and stores in the near future. I am deeply sorry for the additional noise and sleep discomfort from our old in room A/C units. We are currently in the middle of installing new units this summer that will complete half of the lodge with new efficient A/C units. We welcome you back for another stay when you could relax and enjoy all of the resorts amenities.
Best Regards, Patrick

Highly overrated rooms. Pictures on website beautiful but not as represented as rooms are smaller than shown. We purchased king room with golf view and got view of tree with bird poop streaks on our window. Bathroom floor dirty and carpets dirty. Staff very unhelpful. NO MAP of area available at front desk and staff unhelpful for area information. We had to go to real estate and information office down the road to get a GREAT map that showed hiking and biking trails as well as much information for tips and fun things in the area.
Restaurant seated patrons for dinner right in the front lobby. We had to walk thru diners to get to our room. Very unprofessional not to mention uncomfortable for the diner as well as people walking thru with luggage.
It is away from town so plan to travel if you want to eat off site and make sure you have a phone with google maps or the like because staff not helpful with directions or maps for that either.
I don't know if they were just having an off day but we were there to attend wedding. You would think that the staff would have been more helpful to accommodate this kind of traveler who they might want back in the future...not us.
We'll stay at the Wyndham resort next time as we didn't know until we got here there were other options available.

Room Tip: Maybe a chalet might have been better but I still wouldn't count on the staff to be helpful.
