This is the hotel my wife and I stayed at the week we were married 20 years ago. This is the place we returned to 20 years later. Usually we go to the coast for the day but because of the occasion, we chose to stay at Ester Lee for the memories.

The staff was excellent, the rooms were clean , and the scene was Amazing.

An old tradition at Lincoln City and one worth staying at.

Room Tip: We stayed in the upper rooms and in the cottage, the whirl pool in the cottage made for an excellent...

Ester Lee is a home away from home. I've been coming for over 35 years. We stayed in the older "Cottage" units. They had wood burning fireplaces where if you wanted, you could chop your own wood. Years later, a two story motel section was built to the north. I've stayed in units there also. Every room has a great view of the ocean. I love to sit and watch the waves roll in and open a window at night to let the waves lull you to sleep. It's a family go to place to stay. Yes it is older yet has many amenities that the larger chains offer. They have a decent selections of books, puzzles and games to borrow, also kids toys for playing in the sand. They are also pet friendly. The only draw back would be that there is no readily available beach access. There is a short dead end road with no turn around. You walk down about the equivalent of a block - block and a half to get to the beach. You have to walk over rocks and tree stumps. In younger days that was no problem. Now as age has crept up with challenges to walking, I prefer access the beach from down by Roads End of the D River. It is located at the South end of Lincoln City approximately 5 miles from the main entrance of the town. Give them a try. Well worth your time at the beach.

Room Tip: Corner rooms in the motel and cottages give good views on the ocean. If noise from above room both...

The Ester Lee Motel is a wonderful value, with oceanfront views that can't be beat. There is a large variety of rooms. Since I usually travel there with my elderly mother, it is great to have the option of privacy in a bedroom for a great price, and a full kitchen in the room that we chose for snacks and whipping up a quick breakfast. The rooms are clean, although furnishing are a bit dated and plain, but that is part of the charm; everything was a great working order, and the kitchen was well-equipped. The staff is accommodating and friendly (and they have one of the best views from the lobby that any employee could hope for!). I have stayed at the Ester Lee 4 times now, and I will be back many more. For those with pets, they have pet-friendly rooms and an adorable area for their "business".

Room Tip: The website has virtual tours of all the rooms.

The first thing that struck us as we entered our cottage was all the natural light. It drew us in immediately. We could see the ocean clearly from both living area and the kitchen table. The kitchen facilities were very welcome.

On the negative side, the shower pressure was pretty and low, and we missed night tables in the bedroom (admittedly the room was too small to accommodate them).

The fireplace and the free firewood and kindling were a nice bonus. All in all, we enjoyed our stay a lot. The ambiance gives a welcome contrast to that of typical chain motels/hotels.

The staff were all very nice but this is a very, very old hotel: well kept for it's age. We stayed in room 211 with a full kitchen which was nice and a lot of windows overlooking the ocean. I was happy to have one window that we were able to leave open all night and enjoy the sounds of the sea.

Room Tip: If you want a good room, stay somewhere else....If you can afford to. If not, stay here. It's c...

I have been staying at the Ester Lee since about 1946 - why?, because it is a relaxing and friendly escape from day to day business/routines and has a quaint charm about it that can't be found in most hotels/motels an certainly lacking in "chain" operations. It is up to date but still retains a certain air of bygone days. The location is great, the view is wonderful and from the Housekeeping Staff to the Front Desk everyone makes your stay as enjoyable/memorable as possible - if not I would not be returning all these years and making reservations for next year. If you are impressed with the "sparkle and glitter" of the big name accommodations then this is not for you but if you want to have an enjoyable, relaxing time at the beach, whatever time of the year then you will love the Ester Lee.

We stayed for a week and hated to leave. This will be our 6th stay at the Ester Lee and it won't be the last. Everything from check in on was perfect. The girls at the front desk were very helpful through out our entire stay. We stayed in cottage 5 again....it is our favorite! The beds seem to have been updated whch is great as that was our only complant from previous stays. We cant wait to start planning our next stay!
