“Amazing pastry”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 February 2014 via mobile

Stopped here after visiting some beaches while visiting from the east coast and it was a great surprise! The owners were great and friendly, the choco-booty turnover was to die for!

“Very fun bakery”

A delightful bakery full of pirate decor and souvenirs, with VERY yummy pastry goods. The owners are friendly and delightful as well.

“Just okay and pricey for the coast”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 October 2013

My friend and is stopped in this August due to great reviews on Yelp. Our experience was the people were friendly---and Dan does where the pirate hat---but the selection at 10:00am was almost none. We each bought a turnover. One was $3.25 and the other $3.75 which seems high for a small coastal town, but because the good reviews we went ahead. The turnovers had a pie crust dough and the filling was okay, but I would not make a point to stop in again.

“Good Pastries but unfriendly service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2013

We have been to Captain Dan's three times. The pastries and baked goods are very good, with lots of choices, but we find the service to be flat & unfriendly. I brought my Aunt here who was visiting from Chicago. She asked the lady serving what ingredients were in one of the items and the lady responded in a very condescending & curt manner "sugar, flour, butter, pecans".....They also seemed annoyed that it was taking us some time to decide what we wanted to get. We were the only customers in the shop. There were 5 in our party. I had talked this place's pastries up to my Aunt, and was embarrassed at how rude the lady behind the counter was to her. In hindsight, wishing we would have just walked out rather than give them our business. Sorry Captain Dan, we love your pastries & cookies but we won't come back anymore due to the unfriendly service towards my Aunt. Another visit, we were staying on the north side of Lincoln city, made a special drive just to go to Captains Dans and they were closed during posted business hours, with no explanation or sign as to why. That was disappointing too.
