Historic Anchor Inn

This is not the Ritz-Carlton, lets be clear. If you want that, go elsewhere. But the Anchor Inn just blew me away with the quality of friendly service. The staff made me feel like we were longtime friends, and I loved the quirky decor, and the classic cinema feel of the place. It's fun just to walk through the main building and explore. And free buttered popcorn!! It's like stepping into history. The rooms are clean and homey. This was the perfect place for me to stay in Lincoln City.

The folks at The Anchor are great--friendly and helpful. This is a fabulous inn, filled with all kinds of collectibles with a nautical theme throughout the building. The rooms are all suites and the ones off the main building have a little kitchenette included. My favorite room is upstairs, on the south side, overlooking the wonderful garden. They are constantly improving the place and every time I go back I see more to brighten my eyes.

And it's a nice walk to the ocean, either via 101 or through the neighborhood. Plus, they are pet friendly! What more could you ask for?

Room Tip: Upstairs, overlooking the garden is great if you want a view. Otherwise, I like the wings with the...

If you are looking for a home away from home with someone to make your breakfast, this is the place. Everyone who works at the Anchor is super-friendly. Almost all the rooms are suites with a living room and bedroom. It's more like living in a comfy apartment than hotel. I've come down numerous times to stay for a week. I always look forward to feeling comfy and right at home.

I've been coming to the Anchor for years and every time it feels like coming home. It's a unique hotel with lots of charm and individuality packed in every room. I love the little kitchenette that lets me do my own thing if I want, but the fact that Kip and crew always provide one of the best home cooked breakfasts every morning always lures me out. I swear I put on weight while I'm there. I mean how many places bake homemade cookies for guests or have free popcorn and movies? But most of all it is the wonderful staff. if you want something different and DON"T want the sameness of a chain hotel, but do want clean facilities and friendly staff all within a short walk of the beach, try the Anchor. You won't be disappointed. Oh! And they are pet-friendly!

If you're looking for the big chain hotel experience, then go there. The Historic Anchor Inn is more like a trip to your grandmother's house; that is, if she lived at the beach and made you a breakfast fit for a king every morning and kept the popcorn popper going all day long. It's quaint, comfortable, and oozing with charm, kitsch, and overstuffed furniture. I've stayed in hotels and inns and B&Bs all over the world, but love this place best.

Room Tip: If stairs are a problem for you, ask for a room on the ground floor.

The Anchor is a unique little inn that's a step back in time. I always enjoy staying there when I'm in Lincoln City. Each room has its own personality and the restaurant and bar are comfy and casual. Lots of wood! A great change of pace.

I've stayed in the Anchor Inn several times, most recently in May 2013. I absolutely love it. Staying there is like stepping into the past--except with the amenities of good beds, a flatscreen TV, and a fridge and microwave. Memorabilia lines the wood paneled walls along with bookshelves, indeed, crams every inch of space in the building. It's fascinating to wander down the long hallways just to see what's there. Every room has unique decor and includes a sitting room and a bedroom joined by a bathroom. From the free popcorn and cookies served in the afternoons, to the gourmet breakfasts cooked by the owner himself, the food can't be matched, and the service is great. If you're looking for the bland conformity of a franchise hotel, skip this place. Yeah, the bathrooms will probably be bigger and a bit more modern. But if you want the charm and atmosphere of a truly unique motel, a place so memorable and memory laden that staying there can become one of the highlights of the trip, the Anchor Inn is for you.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms that has been updated.
