My wife and I recently stayed at the Shearwater in Lincoln City. We stayed on the 5th floor and had a wonderful view of the ocean. Our room had a fireplace and the bed was very comfortable. We also really enjoyed the wine and cheeze social. We visited with another couple from Eugene and had a great time. Danny at the desk was very helpful and made our visit special.

We have lived in Oregon for over 30 years and have stayed at most of the nicer coast hotels. This is by far the best housekeeping staff I have ever seen until you get to the upper 4 or 5 star class. Very, Very clean room. We like to come down every 2 or 3 months and just enjoy a couple of days at the Shearwater. No one here has every been anything but genuinely friendly. We will not stay anywhere else now and look forward to every trip. I agree with other reviewers about the higher rooms being the more attractive choice.

Room Tip: We like the 2 bedroom for the size and layout

We stayed there Thanksgiving and were up early for Black Friday shopping at the mall. We stayed on the 5th floor, in room 5003 and had the most wonderful view of the ocean. The room was warm, inviting, clean, a little candy dish with taffy. We saw all the goings on with the wine tasting but didn't imbibe on Thursday night. The next morning after we returned from shopping, the breakfast tray arrived with all the food that we had ordered. It was a very good breakfast for the two of us. Unfortunately, I became ill and while we had paid and were scheduled to spend the night Friday, I had to have my husband drive me back to the Tacoma area to the hospital where I was admitted. It was a disappointing end to a wonderful stay. The front staff were empathetic when I was checking us out to make the four hour trip home. My husband told me we would come back to stay as we really enjoyed the room, staff, and everything about the Shearwater Inn.

Room Tip: Stay in the upper floors to get a view of the ocean. Our room had a keurig coffee maker which was a...

The place was nice, newer, clean. Staff is friendly. Beautiful ocean views and nice access to beach. Seemed everyone there had a dog. Water bowls by front door, doggie treats at desk, desk attendant had dog on front counter. When I came down to get movie in the evening, employee made comment that I didn't have a dog. We were going to use the outdoor jacuzzi but it is only open until 9pm and of course there were dogs tied to the railing to get in the jacuzzi. Again, room was really nice, but there was a loud obnoxious drunk guy out on balcony at night and a really loud car fires up at 4:30 am every morning and other patrons commented on it also. Nice bath products provided...breakfast in the morning brought to your room was nice...but bring your own pillow as the ones provided are wimpy. I have very mixed reviews of this place.

We are very sorry that this guest experienced negative feelings toward our dog friendliness. We have already used these remarks in staff training to improve our customer service. We have some floors at Shearwater Inn that are dog free, and others that allow dogs. Our sister property in Lincoln City, Pelican Shores Inn, is a 100% pet free and on the ocean. We hope that this guest will give Shearwater Inn another try, or visit Pelican Shores.

We stayed there the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The upper floors have a good ocean view. All rooms have some view, but the higher floors have the best views since the hotel has other building between it and the ocean, but the view is still good. There is direct access to the sandy beach in front of the hotel. The rooms are good sized and are very clean and well kept. In the morning they bring breakfast to your room.

Room Tip: Fifth floor rooms have the best view

Rooms are clean and very nice. Sheets felt awesome. We stayed in a Parlor Suite which had a full kitchen and fireplace. 1 minute walk to the beach, 1 minute walk to Kyllos's. The only thing that wasn't perfect: the tile floors in the bathroom and entry way were ice cold. But socks or flip flops fix that. Nice hot tub with music in the background. Free breakfast with bagels, yogurt, fruit, coffee or juice. Will stay here again!!

Our stay was wonderful. Our king size deluxe studio was quiet and spacious. Great view of the ocean (not directly on the water though but short walking distance). Comfortable beds and pillows. I'm picky so this was great. Rooms were clean and new. Complimentary wine with cheese in the evening and continental breakfast served right to your room whatever time frame you choose. What could be better! Also the wine social is situated in a an area that could be a gathering place for families to play board games (there are games available). There are tables, chairs, lounge chairs to sit while enjoying complimentary coffee, wine or whatever else you'd like. It was just my husband and myself but I could see bringing my children and playing games in a family room atmosphere.
Can't wait to go back!!

Room Tip: Stay on the 5th floor as that's the best view.
